The Disappearance of Alice Creed - very good kidnap drama. Nice to know Gemma Arterton can act, and although I already knew Eddie Marsan can, he was amazing here.

Good review - http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/10808/th ... ice-creed/

Just watched Watchmen. There is now a Roschach shaped hole in my heart.

I have mixed feelings about the Watchmen movie. I'm glad they were faithful to the book, but it was TOO faithful in that nearly every single scene matched the panels in the graphic novel exactly. It's neat watching those scenes come to life, but still. Plus, they took out two of my favorite things, the original ending and the newspaper vendor.

Can't one argue that Watchmen is a trashy movie for its own sake? Doesn't it exhibit all the hallmarks of modern popular filmaking...which according to some folks' definitions renders it bad automatically.

I too was disappointed with the movie, much for the same reasons Afro was. They changed the original ending, and since they took out all the citizen characters, I didn't really care when the city was destroyed.

Plus, since it was nearly a shot for panel remake of the novel, it just felt like a lifeless exercise in making a comic into a movie.

Well, you really CAN'T make a Watchmen movie without using modern filmmaking methods. Part of the reason why it took so damn long to come out was because it was incredibly difficult to skillfully translate from page to film. I think the makers of Watchmen did a fantastic job of accomplishing that, but something was lost in translation. The movie doesn't come close to delivering the level of emotional impact the book does. It does, however, feature more blue penis shots.

Even blue penis shots couldn't save Watchmen from being shit.

And the film was pretty bad, too!

500 Days of Summer - Kinda boring, in the end. Zooey Deschanel is a shitass actress and not as cute as her sister from Bones.

Street Fighter - Remembered this as better than it is. Bison's overacting was fun, everything else was laaame, above all the depiction of Sagat as an old man as opposed to a seven foot tall TIGER TIGER TIGER UPPERCUT god.

sorry what? Emily Deschanel has a weird looking face, Zooey is 1000-1200 times cuter, easily.

IMHO, Zooey is annoying and has never given the impression that there is anything going on behind those big cow eyes. Can't say that for her big sis.
