Fine. I won't be the one driving fast enough for that to occur.

This "anything can go wrong" theory is a really convenient excuse to me. If you wanna drive a 100 ton truck, you'd better be damn sure you know everything that can go wrong, instead of, you know, killing someone because your truck doesn't have to obey the laws of physics. I also take it that people posting moronic memes instead of their own opinion shows they don't have anything relevant to add.

For the record, I hydroplaned once while doing 35mph. I lost total control of my car in a split fucking second. And I sure as shit wasn't driving recklessly or too fast.

Yes, the same thing has happened to me before as well.

Guys, I'm from Florida where it rains way too much for the whole hydroplaning thing to hold much water as being some sort of catchall excuse for getting involved in an accident when it rains. It is simple, there are enough people that know how to drive through rain doing it right to allow anyone to drive too fast. People that live in rainy environments know you NEVER drive through standing water and someone with a CDL should know better too. You gotta wonder how fast he was going for a semi to hydroplane.

If you are driving through standing water at anything over 10 miles and hour, you are asking to get into an accident and it is my opinion that it is negligent doing so.

You guys seem like you are seriously using the philosophy that if you are driving the speed limit than you are doing everything you can to prevent such a tragedy, which is just nonsense.

No, I think they're saying that even if you're the most cautious and aware driver on the road, accidents can still happen. Just because you haven't hydroplaned or had a fender bender or whatever doesn't mean that everyone who has is some kind of negligent jerk-off who doesn't know what he's doing.

Exactly.

My main point is that you simply don't know what was happening at the time of this accident, so there is no evidence on which to base your assumption that it was negligence on the part of the truck driver. Your argument that the truck driver had to be doing something wrong for the accident to occur is not convincing at all because you failed to back up your premises with solid evidence.

There's an unwritten rule here in Norway, and that is to expect the unexpected while driving. Just sayin.

Right, which is why nearly everyone was driving 100% faster on the streets of Oslo than they should have been.

Hey, I'm not defending anything or anyone, and the drivers of Oslo are fucking mad. Just saying that it should be a thought in every drivers head.

As long as we are agreed about Oslo drivers.
