Above option. I, obviously, believe it to be a classic, but I'll let the readers decide.

Should Heaven Shall Burn... When We Are Gathered be a Classic, or an Archive?

NO! didn't this album come out just a few months ago?

besides, as far as i know, they play that cookie-cutter "hardcore meets melodic death and if some more extreme cases of shittiness, emo" thing that's been so hot this year and the last?

Dude... Heaven Shall Burn... When We Are Gathered is black metal from Marduk that came out in 1996.

The latest classic entry.

EDIT- OpenMind, Doctor of Metal: Do you study Black metal history? If you did, you'd know about Marduk. If you don't, then it makes no sense to vote in the first place.

You clearly stated in your first post, that you're gonna let the readers decide. So, what's up?

Because the people deciding should have some measure of knowledge concerning the subject in the first place.

Basically, when you vote 'no' without knowing anything about Marduk, it's tantamount to all the idiots who voted for Bush because he lives on a farm, or because Kerry looks French, or something idiotic like that.

Now, I'm not calling you an idiot. However, I'm questioning your judgement. Why vote 'take it out' of the CLASSIC section if you know nothing about it? In this case it would be best to refrain from voting altogether.

The fact alone that I have never heard of this album before is reason enough for probably many of us not to consider this a classic.

In other words: If this were to be a classic I would have known the existence of it.

You've cut yourself into your fingers (Dutch expression) with your poll. I miss two tickboxes saying "Never heard of" and "Neutral".

Point.

I'll just get rid of the goddamned thing. It'll be in the next update instead.

Fuck man, I don't think you should get rid of it(which you appear to have already done) I mean, it's not a full classic(the type of thing that seems to be manditory no matter what type of metal you listen to) but it is a pure black metal classic. In fact, one of the best black metal albums ever released, or so I think.

It's a classic all the way to me.

You pretty well expressed my thoughts.

I didn't realize too, that HSB ... WWAG is the album title only. Of course I have heard about Marduk (I remeber the "Panzerdivision" (or so) album, which I didn't like at all) but I can not judge, if HSB ... WWAG was crucial for the development of Black Metal. However, I don't think that it significantly affected Metal history in general.

It pretty much depends on how you define a Classic. For me it should have a significant influence on Metal History, e.g. be a precourser of a new style/genre, or cement the shape of a popular genre. Or it could simply be a Classic by common sense of the Metal community (e.g "Number of the Beast").

Raw BM alway was and always will be on the fringes, but one can not deny it's enormous influence on more popular genres. So I agree that early BM has produced some Classics, but unlike HSB ... WWAG these are well known by the general public.
