I remember hearing "This calling" and "Six" a few years back, and while I don't have my copy of the album anymore it's really their last good piece. The things I remember most about the album is the incredible drumming, and Labonte's vocals are some of the best in the genre next to Jesse Leach. This Darkened Heart was more aggressive than this album, but Fall of ideals wins out in terms of better musicianship.

Leaving aside the honesty of it, am I the only one who's completely disgusted by the opening lines of this piece?

No. I wish Elias used non-sexual metaphors from time to time.

I wasn't disgusted by the opening few lines, what is there to be disgusted by? Anyway, I tried out a song and it's not really my thing. I'm not one to bash metalcore, but I'm not fond of this type. I just am not a fan of those style of clean vocals.

"Listening to metalcore is like your girlfriend being on her period- irritating, repetitive, and overbearing, but every once in a while the hormones work just the right way to have her horny as hell and looking for a vicious, naturally lubricated blood-fuck. The Fall of Ideals is one such blood-fuck." I'm not finding fault with the subject of what's written, i.e. whether it is true and happens or desirable or not, I just don't want to actually read about it. I'm sure many readers who don't frequent the forums will feel the same way. To the extent that we have women readers, I'm sure many of them will be quite offended as well. If you look around the room can't figure out who the asshole is, it's you!

Oh right, the "irritating, repetitive, and overbearing" thing.

I heard "This Calling," and that song is waaaaaay too cheesy to make me take anything by these guys seriously.

I can write whatever the fuck I want. If it offends you, tough fucking luck. Since when did fucking metalheads become Concerned Parents' Association? People being "offended" was what tried to take down Metal in the 80s. So shut the fuck up.

Well that was certainly aggressive... either way I took the first sentence as more of a humorous musing than a serious statement.

It's melodic metalcore and the vocalist is Phil Labonte, what were you expecting "BROTHERHOOD XCOREX" BREAKDOWN!

Something tells me I wouldn't like Killswitch Engage.

You review for a website. Not for yourself. Whether it was offensive or not, it was certainly immature and takes away from the review of the album. The tough guy bullshit isn't what this site is about. At least that has been the impression I've had for the past 5-6 years I've been reading reviews here. Your response to those that found it rather unnecessary is equally as immature. Grow up.

Regarding the album, 'tis alright. I wouldn't give it an 89. Probably 70-75. It can be good when I'm in the mood, but does tend to get old rather quickly. Unfortunately they have only gone down hill form this one.

It depends on who the singer is whether Jesse or Howard, Alive or just breathing is easily their best album out of all of their back catalogue. The band really has nothing to offer anyone after "The end of heartache", and really are just resting on their gigantic name.

I basically read that entire review thread for their new album on here, that was one giant mess of a thread. I know a few of my friends are big Killswitch Engage fans and they've been raving about their new album, I don't necessarily trust their taste and Somehow I've managed to avoid hearing them ever, but I decided I will give them a listen. Thanks for the album recommendation.

I didn't say I was offended. I said I thought I thought it was disgusting and not something I want to read. I did say it could offend a lot of other people and would therefore be detrimental to the website overall. Unless I'm mistaken, you don't own this website and so, in point of fact, you cannot write whatever you want. The editing hand here seems to be very light, but again, unless the server's in your name, there are limits to what you can write. Additionally, I'd ask you to refrain from personal attacks. Until we're standing face to face, they don't really mean much and only serve to cheapen the discourse.

I can't say I was expecting anything. All I heard was a really cheesy song, and it didn't really work for me.
