American History X

I loved it. A lot of great acting and the use of black and white for the flashbacks was really effective. And the ending left me completely speechless.

Rolling Thunder - This is up on Hulu, but not on DVD, if anyone's interested. It's a gritty, late 70s revenge flick with a script by Paul Schrader (!), starring William Devane. Also featuring Tommy Lee Jones. Both of which play newly returned POWs from Vietnam, both of them suitably unhinged. Some people kill Devane's wife and kid. Revenge ensues. There's a look on TLJ's face towards the end when he's about to shoot someone and he looks SO HAPPY, and it's great.

Race with the Devil - Peter Fonda, Warren Oates, and their wives witness a cheesy satanic ritual while on vacation in their RV. It drags a bit in the middle, but the ending is awesome, and features a bunch of car stunts!

wow

kinda a surreal moment when Randy Couture was fighting Steve Austin. my favourite wrestler from when I was a kid fighting my favourite mixed martial artist of today.

all in all a good movie. pretty corny at times, but it was good. definitely worth seeing for somebody in the mood for some nostalgic goodness.

also, Lundgren was too funny. his one liners like, "Oops" and "insect" are instant classics.

Kick-Ass - I liked this a lot but there were quite a few things that bugged me about it too.
