Cool, better late than never :dio:

Despite me not really liking the new Wicked albums, I'm still a huge fan of Iced Earth.

What ever happened to that DVD by the way? Shouldn't it be out by now?

Tackså mycket for the sentiment, mate. As for the Festivals-DVD, I'm wondering too. I think it was in one of the icedearth.com audio-updates (anyone keen enough can probably check it out from there) from a little over a year ago where Jon talked about being in post-production mode for the DVD, speculating whether it'd be three or even four discs and I recall anticipating a fall 2009 release. As up in the air as that was, we're well past that so who knows. The Sons Of Liberty-project could've taken some time away from finishing touches to the DVD or Century Media could be just stalling for a more beneficial release slot or who knows. Hopefully it'll be soon anyhoo because even in "abbreviated" festival-formats, three sets of live Iced Earth (Schaffer outlined that the content would be comprised of their shows at Wacked '07 and Rock Hard/Metal Camp '08)?? That's some serious :dio:

Yeah hopefully there are some news regarding the DVD:s soon. I'm kinda starved for some new IE :)

This interview made me go back and listen to the Crucible CD again. Though it should be obvious to anyone, I didn't realize that Crucify the King was about Set and Christ. I guess I haven't spent too much time thinking about the story in part 2 since I wasn't a big fan of the music. It's not bad though, just not up to my expectations.

Will we see a Sons of Liberty review?

Really like the prospects of Iced Earth doing a back-to-basics album as Jon mentioned here. Something Wicked was great story wise, but I feel they need to lay off the epic stuff for a little while. I know Jon seems to be dead set against this, but it wouldn't bad thing to revisit some of the darker tones of Burnt Offerings.

I just want the Blind Guardian influences toned down. Too much layering and too many melody lines have been diluting their music ever since Demons & Wizards...

Being as BO is one of my all-time favourite metal albums, one fo the few 100/100, I would not mind that either. A shame really that it isn't among Schaffer's favourites, wonder if the dark vibe is not to his liking anymore or the apparently bad touring-memories that accompany that album hamper it or what...anyone heard anything specific about this? In hindsight, should've really asked that when I had the chance :D

Great interview dude, definitely glad you got around to posting it :) JS seems like a cool guy, now I just wish they would come to Australia sometime!! And yes, something BO-style would be totally killer, but the chances seem slim...still, "back-to-basics" sounds promising! Keeping an eye and ear out for that...keep up the good work!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Iced Earth's attraction was that they were quite a brutal chuggy power metal band. The Blind Guardian influence dilutes that considerably.
