I didn't know they had a new CD out any day now, the samples sound impressive I can't wait to get this one.

Heard it's their best so far and the most Sepultura-y. Only from one source though. I'm interested.

Yeah, they've been on an upward trajectory with the last 2 albums, most anyone will agree. Plus, the Cavalera Conspiracy album was solid.

I think Max has his mojo back.

I've heard it a couple of times, and it's not bad, but Conquer had better songwriting if you ask me.

Care to comment on the Sepultura-y-ness of it?

Well, my jaw remains undropped. If you're expecting Beneath The Remains pt II you're going to be sadly disappointed, heh. It's typical sort of Cavalera Conspiracy/modern thrash with groovy/death bits, really, interestingly with less tribal stuff than on Conquer, too. Nothing really stands out, although the song with whatsit from Dillinger Escape Plan is a real grower. Overall, 70-85, depending on how much it grows on me overall.

That's still a very strong score coming from you, for a groovy thrash album. So I'm happy.

What I really hope is that the Cavalera Conspiracy album they're recording right now is amazing.

I never liked the nu metal stuff from the early Soulfly albums, and so I'm happy with the new direction, because I only want new real Sepultura albums and it doesn't matter to me if the name of the band is Soulfly or Cavalera Conspiracy, because Max is Max and beer is beer and thrash is thrash. :D

I dunno. Soulfly always seemed kind of gimmicky to me. The tribal stuff was cool on Roots and Chaos AD. But, after that, the novelty wore off.

Nonetheless, if it gets good enough reviews, I'll check this album out. I did, after all, like Conquer.

It's a step back to the early Soulfly stuff compared to the last two albums. Groovier, "bouncier," and less of the thrashy style the last two had.

It's really good, though.

 I wouldn't have called this a step back to old Soulfly at all. There's nothing nu-metal whatsoever; more like Cavalera Conspiracy than ever, in fact. More Death Metal content than ever, and very little tribal stuff aside from some weird-sounding solos.

I heard it and it does sound like Cavalera Conspiracy. I thought Max made that band with his brother to go back to his roots and now he is taking Soulfly there too...odd. Maybe the new CC will sound like Conquer.

Yeah so Omen isn't as good as Conquer. Some stinkers like Jeffrey Dahmer and Vulture Culture and the singer from Dillinger on Rise of the Fallen, but since I hate DEP it's no surprise I hate the song he sings on. Right now I'd give the album 79.

Interesting that although I like DEP and that Jeffrey Dahmer (master cannibal!) song, I gave it exactly the same. A big step down from Conquer.

I looooove Rise of the Fallen. Yet to really get into this entirely though.

I really think I need to at least hear new Soulfly. I did like CC, so maybe I will like this.

that's a big maybe though
