We need a Dio tribute here. Kinda like what you guys did for Metallica... Just a thought. RIP Dio.

Exactly. An editorial, perhaps?

Whenever I saw posts on his Facebook page I got the impression he was doing well. It's amazing how fast things took a turn for the worse. 67 years young! A true icon and a man who has influenced many and will continue to do so even after his death. :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio:

Cancer sucks like that. My dad was recovering from a tumor on his spine and actually had made far more progress than his doctors thought possible, then it suddenly spread all over body. 3 weeks later he permanently checked out.

I feel for Dio's family. He was definitely taken from them far too early.

This is the worst news ever.

It's strange. After sitting on "Dream Evil" for about 5 years, I just recently in the last week listened to it several times and realized it is one of his great albums he ever did.

This is really awful and sad.

Heavy Metal as a whole might just have died yesterday.

Ronnie James Dio was what every frontman should aspire to be. Clean living, long loving marriage, absolute love of the music and performing, intelligent, talented, humble and gracious. Not necessarily in that order.

There will never be anyone like him. R.I.P Ronnie \m/

Very sad. He may have been the single most perfect and classic representative of true heavy metal EVER.

A class act.
An undeniable legend.
An unparalleled voice.

A monstrous loss for all of us.

I've often thought over the last few years how ageless and unusual he was. Fuck cancer.

I was listening to Eddie Trunk on Sirius and he had a wonderful 4 hour tribute to Dio with lots of musicians calling in and sharing their thoughts and memories.

On the show they actually mentioned a couple of songs that Dio had completed just before his passing:

Here is a song that was going to be on Magica 2:

Elektra:

He also provided guest vocals on two songs on the forthcoming album by The Rods led by Dio's cousin, guitarist David "Rock" Feinstein. One of the songs they played on the radio was called "Heavy Metal Will Never Die" - great title given the circumstances. Unfortunately, I can't find a link to the song, but I imagine it'll be uploaded here at some point:

The Rods... I thought I as the only one that remembered them.
Man, that takes me back.

"Dio, can you hear me? I am lost and so alone. I'm asking for your guidance - won't you come down from your throne?"

This is the most hilarious thing ever. This is Dio at his maddest and most irate and he is still cool to everybody:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOwZBo8FQvo

It still hasn't sunk in what is actually happening.

I think i'm gonna have to see that first tribute for this to be real.

Man, this is SO sad.
He just seemed like such a genuinely awesome guy in every interview i've ever seen. Just so pleasant.
And he's a badass, obviously.

RIP <3
