Harbringer demo is nice indeed but the thread might be a tad too eulogious for just a rehearsal tape.... I got the feeling our "friendship" (we all know internet means nothing) blinds us.... Great albums, these last few weeks haven't had the treatment they deserved... Slough Feg (blocked, kinda understand why... though I disagree with the method) in a style pretty close to Harbringer but with a pro recording got only a few words and some retarded jokes (and I posted too :oops: ) while it deserved a much better treatment since it kicks major asses !

all this to say, I understand The Great Deceiver though he could have used a more diplomatical way to speak his mind...

I wish to see less of this kind of sectarism from now on... If not I will be forced to leave MR forums too... :(

Well, I didn't block it, but I should have. Great band, great album and all you guys could do was talk about monkeys on the cover and post some quasi porn pics. Some metal fans .... I guess I could delete them, but figured some people would start the whole "censure" rhetoric. If you wanted to make a fool of yoursefl you certainly did good.
Now, it got blocked after the band saw the review, checked it out on the site and saw those posts. Needless to say they weren't pleased to have Atavism associated with atavistic, or should I say retarded, posts.

Yeah, thanks a lot guys. We may have lost a band and/or label contact because of that post. Of course, you all don't care about that, even though this site WOULDN'T EXIST for you to post that shit were it not for these relationships that we've built over the years.

We tried to be pretty lenient about moderating these forums, but you guys have done everything possible to prove that we need to stay on top of things. So, get used to the forums being moderated. If you want to cry about censorship, save your keystrokes, because not allowing porn and other ridiculous posts in the name of keeping this site afloat is not censorship, and that's not up for discussion. Man, some of you act like it's your birthright to post whatever you want where you want on this site. Are you paying for the bandwidth or running this site day to day?

We tried to be accomodating and easy going about these forums... But with you guys, it's give an inch, take a mile. Sorry to disappoint you, but this website is not your personal playground that will cater to your every whim and desire.

This is a place to talk about metal in general, news items posted, and review discussion. So, any messages that deviate from that will be zapped. Sorry if that's not "kvlt" enough for you, but we raelly don't care. That Slough Feg thread is the last thread that will damage a band/label relationship of ours. Now, before anyone whines about this and pass blame about this policy, look in the mirror first.

Man that sucks big time! I usually hate censorship with a passion but under certain circumstances (I call this certain circumstances because band/label relationships are of course very important to any metal site) I can understand your decision.

I think a label or a band who judges a webzine on their forums either know very little about forums or are very stupid... they just had to take 15mn to browse MR forums to see it's not all about retarded jokes & flame wars... too bad they apparently didn't... then, trying to make us feel guilty about what happened is (I dare say) a very stupid thing... as blocking the thread was



indeed forums need to be moderated... whoever says otherwise is an idiot or have never dwelled on a forum before... howerer, I feel the moderators should be choosed among regular posters (not me, I would refuse, and I doubt you'll ever ask me anyway ). For example, Daniel is not a moderator though he should be.... If you guys had looked closer, you would have seen how hard he tries his best to keep things as clean & decent as possible... and seeing how he got one of his messages deleted, I feel you don't know what I'm talking about or maybe you feel only an upper-cast (known as The Team or We, The Ancients) can moderate properly... I say it's bullshit.



Imo, you weren't accomodating or easy going or whatever, you were absent... you broke the connection with readers... that's okay for me but by doing so you kind of create an independant website (these forums) and I think that's a shame. then, breaking that connection, if not for people who post here, the forum wouldn't exist so I strongly believe this is the posters' playground... and we indeed need to focus more on topic which doesn't exclude jokes... This doesn't say I won't accept one of my comments to be "moderated" because it went out of topic or was judged wrong for its indecency... I'm perfectly okay with that, I will even push you guys to keep that policy in the reviews section.
but, once again, a label or a band who judges a website on the its forum is stupid or has very little experience of places like this.

that said, sorry about Slough Feg (kick ass band) and sorry if our posts have caused any harm to MR. If that's really so, I suggest we all go to Slough Feg website and post there our comments on that brilliant piece of original (yeah, it's still possible !) Power Metal "Atavism" is... and I would suggest you guys to make a nice interview so that you give this band the coverage it deserves...

That sounds like a kiss-ass to me. I wouldn't do it. I think you had your ample chance to say how good the album was in that forum thread and then they would have enjoyed it. Instead, yup, you got it, the girl with the plunger. I can't say I am big on second chances in life, Emokid, and I guess I am not now either. Gotta live with what you do the first time around, when it really counts, you know.

Nice to know that the mods of a forum have barely concealable disdain for the regular posters.

....Damn. Slough Feg is a great band....I havent heard the particular album in question, but I have some of their older stuff. And if I were them I wouldnt waste my time caring about what some shit head posted on a metal forum. you put your music out there shit like that is going to happen. I dont know the full story but I don't think its anything to get too upset about. The administrators are right though, if all you're going to do is post porn and talk about monkeys when you should be talking about how awesome Slogh Feg is.....than maybe you should go to a porn forum....or a monkey one. ANyway, the Great Deciever shit all over the Harbinger demo.....but I dont really care. Thats what you get when you open your music to the whole fucking world.....which is basically what you do when you post on the internet.

My advice to Slough Feg....and any other band, unless your Maiden....you're bound to get shit on at least twice on the internet, and considering Slough Feg's history and pedigree they shouldnt get upset or allow it to damage the relationship between the site admins and themselves. Get over it.

The sad part is/was - if they said they didn't like the music I would have argued foamy at the mouth. At least it would have been a music argument. Instead, there were no music statements at all, just stupid jokes about the cover and porn pics.

why didn't I post how good that Slough Feg album was... Well, in fact that particular review made me want to listen to the album... so i did and went back to the forums to express how good I thought it was only to find the thread blocked...

then, I don't remember seeing any porn pic on that thread... Stupid jokes indeed but no porn pic... or maybe the girl with the plunger ? :shock: then I seriously question your sexuality because being "aroused" by that kind of pic certainly shows a very deviant behaviour...

as for on whom the "blame" should be put on, I would say a little bit on everyone (Salomon judgement, does that ring a bell ?) but deep down inside I feel (huh ! I'm soooo emo) that this whole concept of blame is far too judeo-christian for me to accept it... I live with my mistakes and try to redeem myself and so far that method showed to be quite effective... so, no kissing ass you see...

and well, I know this post doesn't resolve anything except, hey, I think you take things way too seriously and that pisses me of a bit... we all have lives in which this forum only takes a miniature part (even if my post average seems to disagree, I'm a quick writer :roll: )...

btw, I hate the way some reviewers seem to despise the readers who contribute in the success of this website too... and finally, the idea of picking Daniel as a moderator (or even Misha) does not come from any of these guys but from me... I think that would make sense since they're reviewers & frequent posters... but I'm quite sure they would refuse or that you will ever offer them the position...

You keep talking about the connection some reviewers are missing with the readers. I really don;t recall you ever posting much in my reviews before. I also don;t recall you e-mailing me directly to start the connection. I know you are around on the forums, mostly with Misha's and Daniel's reviews where, dare I say, you don't post the garbage you did in Slough Feg. So, we basically never met, you lead off with that picture of yours, and you want us to "connect" now?

And who are "some" reviewers you are referring to?
