I think ANATO had it's merits, but it was probably the beginning of the decline of BG. The music is too fluffy now and there's not enough power and energy in the songs. I guess you could say that about NiME as well, at least to some extent, but that one was brilliant because it managed to combine it's pretentiousness with awesome melodies and catchiness throughout.

As for A Twist in The Myth, I can hardly recall any songs or melodies, which is never a good sign if you've listened to an album more than a handful of times.

Hopefully the new album will be a lot better. It's sad seeing all those great power/heavy metal idols of my youth wither away into mediocrity.

+100!

Anyway, samples sound good, let's hope for a revival of some sort.

I heard too much super symphonic stuff during the part where they are all sitting around listening to it. I hope that's just a small part that has all the keyboards and symphony stuff, the metallic stuff sounds good I guess.

Well I'm kind of disappointed... Guess I should anticipate it whit caution. (btw the production is way too clear, it does sound like ANATO wich isnt a very good thing)

Sounds good to me and there's nothing wrong with it sounding like ANATO. :P

Nah not saying ANATO is bad (quite the contrary), but i feel like the drum could actually have been a little more raw sounding, particularly the kick. I personnaly find the vocals overlayered and I prefer when hansi is not ripping is throat apart for those quite lame souding high pitch back vocals. :D

Part three is out http://blind-guardian.com/ Definitely the most interesting yet. The song at the end where they record the bass looks very promising.

And I take back what I said, the production is fine. Except for the vocals (listened to it with speakers who actually have bass).

I have been a blind guardian fan for many years. And i love the older thrashier approach as much as the newer, proggier over the top epic approach.

ANATO for me is a masterpiece. And its not simply new-over-produced-power-metal-fan-boy opinion as H_T so eloquently informed us could be the only reason for our enjoyment of such an album. I enjoyed it much more because it was a rich, grand technical masterpiece. Where so much thought went into every single bar of music. The could have easily had enough melody and ideas for 3 cds contained within ANATO. For me a twist in the myth did sound a little like ANATO B-sides, or ideas that didnt quite make the cut. Dont get me wrong, i like the CD and it does have its moments.

The new stuff does seem more raw and edgy, it seems to combine the older rhythm/Siepen riffage much more than on the previous two outings. And from the sound samples and descriptions its set to be nearly as grand as ANATO ontop of this! which, if balanced correctly could result in something truely great.

H_T doesnt seem to popular in this thread, but IMO i he is certainly entitled to voice is own opinion. (even if it seems its a regularity amongst newer BG releases). But what i dont feel he should be entitled to do is pigeon-hole everyone who likes newer BG cds, as just liking 'overproduced' power metal etc. Yeah, sure its overproduced, but thats because it would be impossible not to multi-layer so many ideas and parts.

I for one am really looking forward to the new BG CD, i just hope they bring back a bit of the poundage from the likes of imaginations'. and cmbine this with the complexity of ANATO, then we could have an amazing album!

Or at least a mix of ANATO and ATITM, being that none of the songs are more than ten minutes long (whereas ANATO had one 14+ minute song).

Can't wait!

I really hope that this album will be good, their last one was for me personally a big disappointment.
Their last album I really enjoyed was "the forgotten tales".

I suspect this will be better than the last offering, but will be nesteled between ANATO and NIME.
