Some good fights, especially the ones against Big Nog.

Whats your picks for UFC 110?

I'm leaning towards
Nogueira+Bisping+Stevenson+Jardine+Rothwell

On paper it looks like a stellar event.

I've been too lazy to post in here for awhile, but shit lets discuss 110.

Tompa, my picks:

Nog - Barring that Nog is injured or just not 100% in some way, I don't see Cain really having his way too much with him. Cain has great takedowns, but Nog has no problem being on his back and can always land a sub at any point... Plus Nog looked great against Randy, I think he's motivated and he wants that title.

Cain has pillow hands and Nog has an iron chin, so the only way Cain is getting it is with a 3 round decision... And that gives Nog plenty of opportunity to win.

Wandy - I don't care what Wandy's current UFC record is, or that he's been losing. He's a legend, he's had some time off, and he's at a new weight class. We're either going to see a fully revitalized Axe Murderer or the fall of a legend.

I honestly nearly came to tears when he destroyed Jardine and screamed out Wandy's back a dozen times or so when I saw that with all my friends. I want Wandy to come back and get a title run going at MW. He deserves it.

Joe Daddy - Sotorwhateverthehell doesn't really have the game for JD.

Bader... He's honestly likely going to lose stepping up to Jardine who is a great gatekeeper, but I think it's time for Bader to show if he's got the stuff to move to the next level. I think he has the chops to win if he fights smart. Plus I haven't seen a lot of Jardine off his back, and that's where he'll be going.

Rothwell ... Unless Cro-Cop has FINALLY sorted out his mental weaknesses, willingness to give up in a fight, and rounded out his game a bit more than it's going to be a 3 round decision for Rothwell IMO. I think Mirko is shot and needs to retire. He should have retired after winning the Pride OWGP.

I'd like to see Soszynski beat Bonnar but I think that could be up in the air. Sos didn't fight smart at all in his last fight and lost to a guy I thought he could have handled easily. He needs to get Bonnar on his back and beat him up or look for a sub.

I love Wanderlei and I'm really hoping for a win here but he seems to disappoint more often than not. He's got a bit of whatever Cro-Cop has got, finding it really hard to have some UFC success.

I agree that he's been gun shy. He's got some facial surgery and nose surgery, and he says he's ready to be aggressive again. We'll see what happens. If he loses to Bisping I really think his career is over unless they can find him some marquee fights at MW or LHW.

Then again even if the UFC cuts him I think he could end up back in Japan in like DREAM with little problem. Who knows. We'll see.

Yeah.
I don't know, Nog's not the same man he was in Pride.

Meh we'll see what happens but I don't see him holding a title or making it to contention unless he gets there pretty quickly from here and has a fight that works well for him.

I was just glad Wandy won, that's what I wanted the most. :)

True.
With a record like this

32 - 6 - 1

I'm sure Nog's feeling the wear and tear.
That's a lot of battles.
Meh, win or lose, he's still a legend.

People still doubt the fact that Velasquez can be champion? Nobody gave him a chance against Kongo but he just overwhelmed him. Nobody gave him a chance against Big Nog and he just knocked him the fuck out. So why is he still not champion material? I could see him beating Mir or Carwin, Lesnar may be tough but him vs any of those 3 he'd have a chance. He's the real deal.

Even though my picks were way off this was a great events with lots of very entertaining fights. Very impressive wins by Sotiropoulos and Velasquez. Watching Jardine get knocked out for the 100th time was disappointing but I should probably have seen it coming. Biggest cheer of the night goes to Wanderlei, he's just so damn lovable.

He convinced me when he destroyed Rothwell a few months back.

Props to Cain where it's due, but the internet is abuzz with how he would put the beatdown on Fedor.
Of course, this happens every time a HW wins, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Who has he fought that is top comp?
Still, an undefeated record is still an undefeated record.
Truth is UFC's HW div isn't all that stacked.
I'd like to see how he fares against Mir, JDS, Carwin, etc...

As much as I like Noguiera, he looks to be about finished; he's had his run, but the mileage of nearly 40 fights, plus all the training, injuries, etc. looks to be wearing him down. Sad to see a legend fade away, but it is inevitable.

I think Wandy fought a bit too tentative in the fight. I was all about his takedowns where he'd grab Bisping's leg and sweep the other out, but he should have poured it on a bit more like he did during the last 20 seconds or so. I think he could have swarmed Bisping probably in round 2 for a KO or TKO.

Hopefully his confidence is boosted by the V, he looked great IMO. Bisping isn't like top 10 but he's definitely a solid test for Wandy at MW.

I think he should fight Marquardt next. That'd be a great fight.

Eh, I dunno. I think he'd probably lose to Marquardt right now. I'd like to see Wandy fight Akiyama or Belcher or something. Something serious but not terribly serious. I think he deserves to build up a solid MW run and get some fights in and build confidence.
