it's weird watching a movie and saying 'hey, I know where that is' I'm speaking of the scenes in Toronto/scarborough/parry sound. Cool movie though, and This is Thirteen is a great album.

Ponyo. Not seen that much Ghibli, and even I can tell this isn't their best. Visually there were some real FUUUUUUU- moments though.

Watch more Ghibli movies. They're all fantastically imaginative and spectacularly artistic.

I  them

Chocolate - Some horrifying film about the dangers of teaching autistic kids martial arts. The fake violence was bad enough; all the poor bastards who got their limbs broken for real during shooting and shown after the credits was awful. Shocking.

Chocolate was awesome! Autistic girl vs. Tourettes boy was ridiculous, in horribly bad taste, and great. Also, Thai stuntmen are insane.

Observe and Report - Shocking documentary about a shopping centre security guard who, it turns out, was actually mentally unstable and went on a spree of near-murderous violence. Happily, everyone involved seems to have survived, but I shudder to think of the mental damage caused. Highly disturbing film. And very funny if you're in the right mood.

Fuck, what a great movie.

:dio:

How about those last spinning shots around the boat? Feel like you've just been through a hell of a journey, huh?

Was that your first classic Herzog?

Yeah, man, that last monologue left me all "that dude's crazy"

And yeah, I guess it was my first. I haven't been acquanited with Herzog's work before, I just saw that movie because I heard it was good. Anything else he's done that's good?

I have that in a boxset which I'm waiting for a suitably uninterrupted time to break out and enjoy. What Herzog I've seen (just documentaries, alas: Grizzly Man, his last in Antartica) I've loved, and he seems a fascinating man himself.

I don't get it either. Comedy is comedy. People need to stop analyzing it and get a sense of humor.

He always seems like a "dude, I got so trashed last night and did some crazy shit man let's go get wasteeeeeeeeed yeeeeeeah" type, and it's obnoxious.

I don't think I have ever seen him wasted. He smokes weed, a lot. Even in real life he does. He's chilled. He's a stoner, he's funny, and he's Canadian. All win in my books.

although, Observe and Report sure does suck.

He really isn't though. He is quirky. He is actually kind of a nerd. Plus the 'let's get wasted parts' are what is least funny about Seth Rogen. Everything else about him is funny, even his mannerisms are hilarious.
