As much as I love Pink Floyd, I've never heard anything from this except for Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun -- and even then, it was on their Echoes compilation album. Call it sacrilege, but their psychedelic days just don't interest me much. I prefer the 'quiet desperation' of the Roger Waters-era, in comparison to the bouncy, surrealness of the Barrett days.

Maybe it'll grow on me... one of these days.

Listen to the album as a whole for the proper effect - not all of it is bouncy, at all.

Listening to this and Piper makes me wonder what direction Pink Floyd would've went in had Syd Barrett not gone completely crazy. I like the Pink Floyd staples of the Waters-era, but aside from them, I honestly think the band just repeat themselves a lot and meander all the time, while the two Barrett-era albums are spectacular. I wouldn't say either one has a weak song. Even this "transitional" album as Zad calls it, is already weaker than the debut in my opinion, and I can't help but attribute that to Waters.
