Yep. The movie was basically "HUMANS ARE EVIL THEY DESTROY PLANETS OH NOES" and it was really lame. It was borderline immature how poorly it was written.

I do. All the pretty effects and action sequences are flat out worthless without a good plot or script to back it up.

Yep, pretty much. I've heard it described as "Pocahontas in space" and "I liked it better when it was called 'Fern Gully'," so take it for what it's worth.

It Might Get Loud - Shiny guitar porn. Good times but wtf was The Edge doing there?

Executive Koala- Less comically absurd than I was expecting, more dark and mind-fucking.

The Other Man - Liam Neeson makes every movie awesome. He is the best actor on the planet (excluding Daniel Day Lewis).

It's only shit if you're too "intelligent" to enjoy good movies. I imagine you're one of those assholes at the cinema who laughs at serious moments in a film because you're too smart to enjoy it like the rest of the audience.

I think the plot has a lot of holes, but it doesn't ruin the rest of the film. Watching Avatar in 3D is an amazing experience. It's like spending 3 hours in another world. I just don't get why some people have such a hard time enjoying themselves.

Saying "It's only shit if you're too "intelligent" to enjoy good movies" implies that Avatar is good, so that's not the case.

Don't get me wrong, I can love a good action movie, I enjoy the hell out of Total Recall and The Fifth Element, because they're fun movies to watch, and they don't take themselves seriously. But damn, Avatar was just a bad movie.

I fucking hate it when people say "Oh yeah, the story sucks and the message is forced down your throat, BUT YOU KNEW THAT GOING IN, SO IT DOESN'T MATTER!" That pisses me off because YES IT FUCKING DOES! Just because a movie has good graphics and good action doesn't mean that it should get away with having a shitty story, shitty characters, and a forced message which everyone seems to admit that Avatar has all 3 in spades. Why this movie is getting a free pass is beyond me.

I want my ladies as I want my films: with both body, brains and soul.
However, once in a while a gorgeous lady only fills one of the demands, but it's okay, because damn she is hot. And that lady is Avatar, or what?

Sideways - Nice mix of lol and emotions.
Inglorious Basterds - Wonderful. First movie in a while that's made me excited about watching movies. I love how this and Kill Bill took such simple and predictable stories but then made them awesome with good characters and a bunch of miniature stories that are much less predictable.

Sherlock Holmes

What the fuck. And this has what exactly to do with the Conan Doyle books?

Entre Les Murs (The Class) - French film about a class and their teacher, surprisingly gripping despite not a great deal happening.

All really great movies. Especially Underground, the real portrait of chaos in a movie.

Avatar - Bland, predictable story, but the effects and action are superb. 7.5 / 10

Sherlock Holmes - Not too bad, actually, but not nearly as good as almost everyone I know raves. The humor is witty, and it's cool how everything is resolved at the end, but it sucks to sit there for two hours while Holmes figures everything out yet tells NONE of the details until the very end. Fun movie all in all though, and I love the music. 6.5 / 10

We just returned from Avatar. The film was spectacular to look at, obviously due to the phenomenal effects. Has the story been done before? Yes. I guess viewers have distinctly different reactions to films because I felt that the acting was fine and the movie most definitely had a plot and a good message. That being said, I found it completely enjoyable and I would certainly go see it in 3D next time.

I also found the soundtrack to be fantastic. It reminded me of 'The Abyss'.

I saw Avatar 3D yesterday. I understand what both sides are saying on this one, but damn, it was a pretty cool experience. I enjoyed it, even if by the end I got a little tired of the "Humans suck" stuff.

I'm going to take my mom to go see it in 3-D for her birthday. She's not a critical viewer so she'll love it. I liked Pochahontas minus Mel Gibson's melodramatic, over-the-top voice so maybe I'll enjoy this. I was really hoping it'd be some epic account depicting the evils of imperialism but I guess it did that ad nauseum.

Got 9 episodes in The Office season 5 but then realized it was emo and not very funny anymore so stopped.
Public Enemies - Pretty lame. Dialogue was really terrible so I turned it off after 30 minutes.
Moon - Weird/tense/good. Sam Rockwell is a great actor who I wish would get more starring roles.
