Hellfire Club is an outstanding album. If you don't like power metal, that's fine, but other people do. I'm not really sure what's so hard to understand about that. I think Mastodon is horribly overrated, and I'm sure others agree with me, but for some reason you are the only one being a complete jackass.

Not my fault if I try to stick to the topic and proceed to be told I know little of metal.

yeah lady gaga's new album is one of my metal albums of the decade

She has a new album out? You astound me with your knowledge.

That's a hard one. While I could name a bunch of great albums I'm having a hard time coming up with album of the decade candidates.

But two of my favorites are

Masterplan - s/t
Opeth - Blackwater Park

A few more for my list:

Mayhem - Ordo Ad Chao
The Axis Of Perdition - Deleted Scenes From The Transition Hospital
Corpsing - The Stench Of Humanity
Ephel Duath - The Painter's Palette
Avantasia - The Metal Opera pt 1 (power metal oh noes)
Cryptopsy - Once Was Not
Wormed - Planisphaerium
Benighted Leams - Ferly Centesms
Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale
Tool - Lateralus
The Monolith Deathcult - Trivmvirate
Isis - Oceanic
Hate Forest - Purity
Nightwish - Once
L'Acephale - Mord Und Totschlag
Jesu - Jesu
Mastodon - Blood Mountain (still prefer it to CTS)
Mithras - Worlds Beyond The Veil
SYL - Alien
Sunn O))) - Monoliths And Dimensions

And I'll second whoever said Burst - Lazarus Bird. Brilliant album.

:dio:

It's a damn shame they're not around anymore (or on "indefinate hiatus," which is pretty much the same thing), because Lazarus Bird really showcased them as one of the most talented bands in Metal today.

Seconding Ordo ad Chao, but I found Trivmvirate to be a bit too much all over the place to love it. I'd give TMD one more album to nail it.

I know exactly what you mean, but I enjoyed Trivmvirate enough to stick it on the list. They have a new album out in 2010 apparently, fingers crossed.

It's better than its reputation, sure. Not album of the decade material, however.

yeah man I don't know. I spent the summer in a mental institution and didn't get to listen to anything except radio hits on shitty headphones we were allowed to use occasionally. I have a new appreciation for how much I love metal, and since I've been out of the ward chimera is an album I really got into. I just listed albums that I've listened to a lot over the past 5 or 6 years I've been into metal. Figure that's the point.

I'll give it another go, how's that? I certainly don't hate either it or Grand Declaration, but they're not Mayhem's most significant albums for me.

certainly, there's just some brilliant guitar work on chimera, and hellhammers drumming is outstanding as usual and I dig the vocals completely.

Then again, you don't appear to have much of a head anyway.

Are all people from the netherlands this dumb?

On topic: For one, i'm glad to see a topic like this, all 'arguing' aside, because it reminds that there are still a lot of bands/albums I need to check out.

Off topic: Not to take sides or shit but Karmakosmonaut isn't from the netherlands. His location on his profile simply refers to the fact that Flanders (which is a part of Belgium) used to be called the Southern Netherlands. Or is it a statement against the whole Belgium-concept? :P

Shuddup, the Libertines are amazing. Just because Doherty attracts media attention for being a complete fucking drug-addled mess doesn't mean that his music is any worse for it.

Actually, it's the only reason they gained any fame.

Well, I never heard of them until a few weeks ago, so I couldn't tell. But the lyrics are damn good and the music is fucking great, and that's all I care about.
