I look at it like this: say for instance everybody's posting habits consisted of nothing but " *insert genre here* is ghey" and "lol, these guys / this shit / really sucks"... how lame would that board be?
I believe that a certain level of ettiquette should be observed and practiced.

Or perhaps, for some, a more scatological example would be more befitting :
Say there is a gathering of 5 - 10 people, oh, let's say in one of their living rooms. And, they are all discussing a certain topic; maybe some agree with the other's and maybe some don't. Maybe the conversation is at times heated, but it is at least somewhat intelligent and respectful.
Then let's say some drooling tourettes addled simpleton wanders in and, out of nowhere drops his trousers and takes a big dump in the middle of the host's living room rug.
And let's say that it is ignored and they move to another place, at another time and are discussing another topic. And the same dimwit wanders in and, you guessed it, defecates all over the floor.
And on and on... different place, different day, and lo! here comes the guy that shits all over the place, right on time, thinking he is being a regular laff riot...
Eventually, someone will (and should) tire of this nonsense, and say WTF?!?.
