What is this nonsense? Downloading, buying music online.... curses! I prefer the real deal, CDs Lps tapes, as should all friends of music. Meh... Yeah, I'm also running out of space for my records. I only have about 800 records at the moment but they take a lot of space.

Oh, and hey, long time no see dudes!

I don't think his necromantic powers will allow him to go into the prog/power forum.

I've got a little cabinet thing in a corner of my room that will hold exactly 108 jewel cases, and it's nearly full, even with random cases strewn about the room... Time for an upgrade, methinks.

All of mine are stacked in boxes... Kinda like Ken, but not that many obviously. Did that before I moved out. Used to keep them shelved alphabetically and chronologically. I loved the Iron Maiden collection the most.

I am very protective about my cds/tapes. I hate it when any damage occurs even to the cover which is the reason I stopped lending them to anyone. I just stack them up in a bundle. No order as such. I need to find space as my cd collection is piling up.

So in short, most people's answer to the title question would be "not very well?" :)

All my CDs are in boxes because they don't make racks strong enough. I spent about 9 months ripping all those discs, so I now have them all on a 1TB external drive. Contemplating selling a lot, actually. Not sure, though.

Either way, I'm just going to make some shelves or have some made from solid wood. Fuck that particle board bullshit.

I have a sort of pile-based intuitive ordering. My cassettes and LPs are sort of ordered alphabetically, but (regrettably) I don't have as many LPs as I have CDs, so it's also easier to keep the order. I've lost count of my albums, but it's many. Really many. I can't quite account for the intricacies of my ordering system as it is quite intuitive but not very logical. It's sort of genre based with a sub-ordering according to grimness, feel or whatever (Archgoat are piled closer to Blasphemy and Teitanblood than it is to Astrofaes which is piled somewhere between Hate Forest and Drudkh who in turn is piled closer to Burzum than it is to Slayer etc. you get the idea). It is fairly detailed in the sense that not all albums by a specific band need to be piled together. It depends on the album. If a band has changed its sound much, it will be piled accordingly. I can locate a specific record in seconds, but nobody but me is able to find anything on my record shelves. It doesn't matter anyway. I don't really have my collection for show or anything, so I don't plan on changing it. It makes sense to me and the system is not something I have decided upon. It just grew out automatically over the years.

I only download to make sure not to buy bad albums after having listened to the one good song on it. I think of it as musical darwinism. The time where you could sell an album of filler on one good song is over. I also download in order to get the albums that I have on vinyl to my mp3-player.

It's kind of like an addiction (worst addiction ever, admittedly). I just habitually pick up CDs for £4-5 in the second hand shop and add them to the racks. Sometimes I don't get round to listening to them for months at a time. I just get the "hey, they're meant to be quite good!" or "that's a band I should probably listen to" or "hey, that's a cool album cover!" voice in my head.

Exact same here, but with online stores. I physically force myself to delete notifications of Supernal sales...
