Homewrecker brings the pit regardless of how much metal elites bitch about the chaotic nature of Jane Doe.

The album is flawless, I normally hate overtechnical music but Ballou and the crew do it so passionately and powerfully on Jane Doe that I just love every minute of the album. Great album from one of hardcore's most overlooked bands.

I don't know, I've tried hard to love these guys, but try as I might, I just don't see what propels them into 'future classic' rather than 'pretty damn good' status, and yes, there is a difference. Dare I say that they're a bit overrated. Listening to Jane Doe now, and whilst I'm enjoying it I wouldn't score it 94. Great review though, Mr. T.

Def 100/100 album. imo what makes it so special is how every song is intense as fuck and also very different from all the other songs.

I'm kinda disappointed this isn't in the classics section, because it is an absolute classic. Good review, though.

I'm with noodles, I'd have to give this 100/100.

Also, the last 4 songs are some of the most intense and emotional songs ever. Phoenix In Flight is absolutely beautiful.

This is about as good as hardcore gets

I'd definitely say this is a classic though.

I can definitely see how people aren't fully appreciating this, but when it clicks it sticks, and I love every minute of it. This isn't the band you can force yourself to like there Z, but I definitely see your point about them. I do not however think that it's a perfect album, mainly do to the slightly thin production and that some songs perhaps could've been better, but yeah. Low care-factor there, this is nearly perfect in any other way.

Why should it be a classic people? Just wondering, and it would be nice if you all backed up that argument.

It's a massive landmark in the Metal world. It's the biggest, most critically acclaimed "Metallic Hardcore/Early Metalcore" album ever released, it defined the genre and brought it to everyone's attention, it inspired a ton of bands, and people are still trying to make their albums sound like Jane Doe today. And as far as intensity goes, it's pretty much unparalleled. I don't think there's any album released before or that has been released since that's as intense as Jane Doe. It's more of a classic than that Solefald album.

Possibly my favorite album. This is the most intense/heaviest album ever....in my opinion. But really...just listen to Concubine/Fault and Fracture or Phoenix in Flames. Holy shit. And Legacy, I think you probably were referring to Phoenix in Flight as beautiful (which it is), cause Phoenix in Flames sure as fuck isn't beautiful...more like some of the most visceral music ever made. And I haven't even mentioned Jane Doe (song) yet...the end of that song gives me chills every time. I've said this before, but I'd imagine that would be a good soundtrack to the apocalypse.

So yeah, 100/100

Eh, there was Metallic hardcore being released before this. Besides, this can't be a classic, it's not ten years old. :P

Yeah but none of it that I've heard is as good as Jane Doe or have gotten as much attention.

imo everything about it is perfect. The production is harsh and trebly and kind of hurts to listen to, but that's the point; every song is great; every song is different; the pacing of the album as a whole, with fast songs giving way to slower, more moody songs, works great (my only complaint for You Fail Me and No Heroes is that they go intense-slow-intense which doesn't work as well as ending an album with something like "Jane Doe"). It's just too good.

any band that can make a song like Heaven in her arms deserves at the very least a high ranking.

Classic. The most intense 45 minutes ever? This is the best hardcore/metalcore album probably ever.

Like noodles said, no Metallic Hardcore ever got as much attention or acclaim as Jane Doe. And like I said before, it pretty much defined the genre and made it relevant. That's enough to be considered a classic as far as I can tell, even if it's not ten years old.

What about Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front then? They were both earlier than Converge, and just as influential. Granted, they've probably not created anything as intense as this, but yeah, I listened to them before I listened to Converge.

I would say Jane Doe is more influential and important. The album cover is an icon in and of itself.

Never listened to these guys until recently. I supposed that it takes a bit to get past the vocals.
