I haven't watched the clip, but your post reminded me of this:

Haha, good read. Makes me wanna watch the movie, even though it'll probably be shit.

Why will it "probably be shit"?

Mock whoever you want, but that goes two ways.

Heh, I'm not a blind supporter of Obama by any means, and bailing out Wall Street wasn't his best move. I just wish criticism of him would be more logical than 'he's a commie/socialist/fascist/muslim/african who wants to kill grannies and bankrupt the country'. Anyone that compares anything to Hitler these days has pretty much lost the argument before they begin, if there even is an argument there.

Liberals did the same thing to Bush.

Source please? Not calling you a liar, but I'd be curious to hear it myself.

haha, are for real?
you telling me you have never seen protesters holding up signs equating Bush to Hitler?
A smart guy like you knows how to use Google, no?

Give me documentation.

People did march with signs calling Bush a fascist, but the difference is I honestly don't think they believed it and were just being OTT as protesters can be. These right-wingers, though... it's the belief that drives them, and that's what makes them rather unsettling. To me, at least.

V, you're asking why Harry Potter is shit? :)

Do your own research.
I f you are saying you have never heard of the Bush / Hitler comparison, you are either a liar or have been living in a cave for the past decade.

Not buying that explanation at all... the hate for Bush by the left was viscous.

Harry Potter movies are not "shit"; they are pretty entertaining, well made and harmless fun.

Heh. Viscous it was, and yet there weren't calls for him to be assassinated as far as I know.

As for HP, harmless fun? If that's what one considers fun, I suppose.

No, I've seen it. What I don't like is people making claims without sources, but whatever.

On an apologetic note, the comparison is a little more apt in Bush's case for the following reasons:
Bush is in fact a war criminal;
Bush used the events of 9/11 to aggrandize his political power, much like Hitler used the burning of the Reichstag;
Bush used a war to distract from domestic problems, again much like what Hitler did.

Of course he's not a mass murder or the epitome of evil to the extent that Hitler was. But there is a somewhat valid argument there.

haha, if I told you that today is Thursday Sept. 17, 2009 and the sun rose this morning, you would need a source?
GTFO.

Meh, to each their own.
I would have never watched them myself, if not for movie night every Saturday with my daughter.

No, I witnessed it myself. We can debate the logical problems in sense perception and when it becomes necessary to provide sources, but whatever.

I do watch stuff with my younger siblings; fortunately my brother is awesome and likes stuff like Mad Men, X Files and Carnivale. Also in the process of watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer with my sister - quite enjoyable, would much rather be watching Paul Newman in something, but eh, quality time is quality time.

You really think you're a lot smarter than you actually are, don't you?
" logical problems in sense perception"... what book did you pull that one out of?

You also witnessed yourself the Hitler comparisons, you admitted it... yet for one you need the source?

My son is pretty big on The Simpsons, so thats good. Have seasons 1-10 on DVD.
Other than that, yeah, X-men, Spiderman, etc... he sometimes watches UFC with me, as well.

Cool Hand Luke?
Good flick.

I have Cool Hand Luke on the shelf, ready for when I have the time to relax with it. Old films are so much better than new ones.

And I think he meant he watched the sun rise, rather than Hitler = Bush placards wielded by liberals.

Um. I phrased that myself, thank you very much. The problem of the extent to which our senses can be trusted as a viable form of gathering empirical data is pretty old, and pretty common.

As far as my "witnessing" (quotation marks, as it was indirect) the Hitler comparisons, I asked you for a source because you seemed to be trying to deliberately demonize anti-Bush protesters. As far as I'm concerned, comparing someone to Hitler is not an automatic "FAIL", as some similarities do exist and must be pointed out, but there is a point where the simile is just too much. The point is moot, however, as these "Tea Party Protesters" are practically gathering to protest something ENTIRELY IMAGINARY.

Good lord, it's the damn stupidity of the whole business that actually blows my mind. How in God's name did we get to a stage whereby people posing as serious "opinion journalists" on major TV networks actually seriously think Barack Obama is a Marxist?

Yeah, people compared Bush to Hitler, but if anyone can find an Olberman of Jon Stewart or whoever (on a mainstream network) that even comes close to this-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXiYJDi0l8A

then I'll start to accept the line that "the left is just as bad as the right".

No, he said he has seen it in the previous post... but whatever.
as for the movies, I wholeheartedly concur.
So, you've never seen Cool Hand Luke?
It's a classic.
I've only seen Barefoot In The Park, the Sting and the Butch cassidy / Sundance kid one (can't remember the name).
Ever seen Bullit? (not Newman, but it's still awesome).

Funny how this week the movies thread has turned into a politics thread and the politics thread is turning into a movie thread...

Bingo. Olbermann and Stewart have to waste air time pointing out the bullshit that these guys are spewing by using annoying things like "facts" and "research" and "logic".

No, I only got into the old-skool recently, got lots to catch up on! But yes, the first thing I saw Newman in was Road To Perdition, and he was far and away the best thing in it.

Fox News needs a flamboyantly gay man on there. Get Graham Norton on for a debate with Beck, that'd be worth watching.
