Dang, I cannot understand someone not thinking early Megadeth is awesome. So fast, so energetic, such awesome solos, such great riffs...

Even still, I don't find Rust In Peace to be this amazing classic that so many claim it is. Sure, a solid album, a great one even, but it's never blown me away. But I generally like groove and melody so thrash has always been one of the more lifeless genres to me.

And the first three Megadeth albums, while good, are way fucking overrated.

This.
Never was too big on Megadeth, though I'll acknowledge that the first few are decent enough.
Sorry, DW...

I'll keep my fanboyism silent...

Still friends, right?

I dunno about overrated, but I do get tired of hearing " omg only good Megadeth album is RIP. "

RiP is good, but overrated. Peace Sells is where it's at.

That's my favorite album by Megadeth, I think. I go back and forth, but that song itself just kicks so much ass and the rest of the album is awesome, too.

What do you mean, I dont pay my bills? Why do you think I'm broke?

I haven't downloaded it - but I have heard it (all songs are on youtube  ) and I think it's nearly the best since Rust in Peace. Maybe again too many slower midtempo songs, but they are all heavy and no "a tout le monde". If you take all fast songs from The System has Failed, United Abominations and Endgame, you have the BEST Megadeth album ever. But so, Endgame is still damn good. If better than Death Magnetic, time will show.

Yeah. The faster/heavier songs from their last 3 are good, but do not touch the classics.

Ok, maybe not the best ever, but pretty close. Just imagine an album with:
Blackmail the Universe,
Kick the Chair,
Tears in a Vial,
Back in the Day,
Sleepwalker,
Washington is Next,
Gears of War (not so fast but very groovy),
Play for Blood,
Dialectic Chaos,
This Day we Fight,
1,320 and
Headcrusher.

At this point in Megadeth's/Mustaine's career 'Endgame' is a fantastic album. Classics are 'classics' and should remain so. I'm not looking for Megadeth or any other older band to relive their golden years by cranking out material that sounds like a mimic of those years. IMO this is exactly what I was looking for out of Megadeth. And, yes...it kicks Death Magnetic's ass.

Every song on Youthanasia shits all over Tears in a Vail. Plus you said an album made up of just the faster songs.

Hey, I like TIAV.

Anyway, I'm trying to decide what to buy next month:

Endgame
Wrath
Crack The Skye
Black Clouds And Silver Linings
Black Gives Way To Blue

I'm actually a little surprised Helloween won't be releasing anything this year. So much for their bi-yearly album streak.

Crack the Skye. Definitely not Wrath.
