Personally looking forward to this. It'll be interesting to see what he puts out to say the least, considering he's working with old ideas. Plus it'll be interesting to see if he includes bm versions of the Daudi Baldrs material.

He is in debt to the government because of the restoration charges for the burned churches. I don't think he will make enough with the album to cover them.

He probably still won't play live or do many interviews, I really can't see this as a cash grab. How much of an audience does black metal really have?

One of those articles said Varg had sold a couple hundred thousand albums, I'm assuming from his first 6 records.... can't be too much profit in that.

Will labels really have a bidding war on a murderer and arsonist? I really can't see a major label picking this up...

Merchandising, combined with the upcoming movie... If he plays his cards right he can make a shitload of money.

I simply refuse to believe that the audience for black metal is that huge that he could possibly make much profit off the album.

1. I doubt Varg has money to set up his own label/pay for the pressing of the albums himself.

2. A label will probably take most of his money, especially if he is in a weakened position due to debt.

3. Either way the cost of producing the album either by himself or a label will be too much for the amount the album will sell, imho.

As for the movie, he won't get a cent from it. Royalties for being portrayed in it? No way. The masses out there aren't suddenly going to get into Burzum just cause of some movie. Also Norway could have laws against profiting from crimes

(A law like that in Aus means a criminal who writes a book can't profit from it.)

So Chopper hasn't made a single cent from his books or the film? Really? I can totally see Candlelight snapping Varg up, especially since they released last year's comp, like I said before.

None of us really know if he'll make any money, but I doubt that stops him from trying.

He will make money. Reaper, what you say is in some ways correct, but he's going to make money. He'll probably play live at a one off gig and make a few grand as well.

I don't know about Chopper, but some other guy wasn't allowed to make money off a book he wrote.

In the article, he states that his wife provides for the family, and that he has no income.

And for those who think this is a cash grab .. what else would an established musician do with his time? Take up plumbing?
