I want some old school heavy metal, traditional metal, speed metal, power metal, whatever. It doesn't have to be from the 70's/80's, it just has to sound like it.

Bands I am looking for are like: Attacker or Brocas Helm or Cirith Ungol etc.. Can be NWOBHM to. Plus I don't want to be overwhelmed with suggestions, try to keep limited and I will do my best to work through what I can.

Keep in mind that I can't stand stuff like Stratovarius or Sonata Artica, newer Helloween, etc..

I'd also like some doom recommendations, but I'd like to keep to mostly old doom. Like the 70's and 80's stuff. I want the classics before I move onto the newer stuff. I would of made a thread in the Doom area, but it doesn't get enough traffic.

Some doom recommendations:
Candlemass - Nightfall
Trouble - Trouble
Scald - The Will of Gods is a Great Power
Sahg - II

First two are classic albums, second two are personal favourites that are roughly in the style of classic albums.

I will now stalk this thread for recommendations since I like heavy metal too.

Own the Trouble album.

Heard a lot of Candlemass, but not Nightfall. Will check out.

The other 2 are new to me, will check them out to.

Actually Epicus Doomicus Metallicus is maybe a little better than Nightfall.

Own Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. New to Nightfall, checking that out first.

Rest of Candlemass discography, them. Ancient Dreams & Tales Of Creation are must-have. And Death Magic Doom, one of the best albums of the year.

You could read the spanish vs french metal of the 80's for a lot of metal from the 80's from these two countries, and Barón Rojo Volumen brutal shoud be in your list of course.

I know there are a lot of bands being tossed around in the french vs spanish metal thread, but I want to get all the good ol american bands out of the way first, before I go dwelling deeper into the genre. Sure, I will check out some of the bands mentioned in that thread. But I want to find out about some underground classics from NA first.

I would recommend Memory Garden - Mirage. It's doom/heavy metal. Fantastic album. Hades-Damnation for some speed/heavy metal. I agree with stub on Omen's Battle Cry. Get that one too.

I was gonna say that I already had the Omen album, but I always get them mixed up with Liege Lord. No idea why.

Thanks for the recommendations, keep them coming!

I know Cauldron. Knew them as Goat Horn, hell I know the singer somewhat personally.

If you can stomach female vocalists (gutsy ones), there's still Crystal Viper. Start with their debut album. Old school power metal or something.

Tried them before, Thomas told me about them. Not for me though.

Maybe some Running Wild/Grave Digger kind of metal?
Saintsbleed "The Mighty Monster", pretty cool.
