I know it's bad that I haven't heard this. I need to get on it.

Cool it's good to get more EoS reviewed. I prefer Spectral Sorrows but that is because I just dig the insane groove on Lost and the fact that they quote July Morning by Uriah Heep.

I guess I shouldn't complain now that it finally got reviewed, but I still think this deserves a CLASSIC status.

Easily the best album of all time for me. 100/100

Lost is a fucking awesome song!

Spectral Sorrows is also hilarious since it has a Manowar cover, :D

@metalNESS

By all means please do, it's never too late:)

@rio

"The Spectral Sorrows" never really got me, but that may be because my first contact with EoS was "Purgatory Afterglow" and the EP "Until Eternity Ends". Plus after "Crimson" I was completely and irreversibly drawn into Pan.Thy.Monium, Nightingale and "Moontower".

@crast

Weighing between 99 and 100 was a tough decision. But beauty lies in the eye of the beholder:)

Yeah, Spectral Sorrows was my first EoS experience, so perhaps that's why it's my favourite.

I like EoS but being spoiled by newer melodic death metal and what have you, this stuff sorta takes a back seat... It's still freakin' classic, and this album is badass.

Excellent album should have been a classic IMO.

I'm on the side of those who think Crimson is a classic. It's an awesome listening experience, an epic journey through the realms of Death Metal. It demands your full attention and concentration to understand it as a whole. After so many years still kicks ass. Thx for reviewing it Dan, it's a very welcome addition to the MR catalog.

Like Dan said to metalNESS "please do it, it's never too late" :dio:
I honestly can't imagine a metal fan who doesn't enjoy this album.

Well you no longer have to imagine, you found one. This wasn't for me.

You've to give it more time until it clicks, what was your first impression?

Also, keep in time when this album was made. This is early melodeath with a bit of ambition, so it may take a few listens to really appreciate as Alexander pointed out.

I was sort of in the same boat with you, on EoS as a whole actually, until spinning their albums a few times.

Easily one of the best songs ever made in metal. This is a classic. No doubt about it.

I should listen to this again. I remember liking it but it's been a couple years and I mostly forget what it sounds like.
