Well yeah, I guess. Then again, that would mean that Evanescence is no metal either, since everyone I know who does not listen to anything but the commersial radioshows loves them. Almost everyone anyway...
And I probably should not even ask, but here goes; What exactly is considered to be "emo"?

I must say your personal signature is hilarious metalhead :D
Love it.

if you consider metalcore, Atreyu are kind of the Motley Crue of that scene... so a good band, doing fun songs... plus it has extra catchy heavy metal guitar parts and the singing doesn't suck too much... pretty good band though I don't see a very bright future for them...

As Incubus themselves note about Epic's 2000 rerelease of 1996's Fungus Amongus: "The recording's are basically a snapshot of our band, circa 1993-1995. As even the most discriminating ear could deduce, [we were] still struggling to find our feet." It's a caveat not really necessary for Incubus fans, of which there are now many, thanks to their diverse, unique, and thoughtful brand of funky, sometimes-acoustic rock, exemplified on 1999's impressive Make Yourself.

Turbonegro RULE!! New album out soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slipknot (volume 3, pretensious, moi?) I liked for about ten minutes when I heard the first single from v3 on radio, enough to buy the album, which I listened to once and then put away in shame. Discovered it under a load of old books yesterday, listened to it, and apart from a decent intro on one of them that if I was drunk would have sounded like Pantera for about half a second, it's shit. The singer guy can't scream properly, and when he does sing 'clean' he ends up sounding like the incubus singer (SCIENCE is good, but very nu metally, made mistake of buying 'Make Yourself' or some shit, emo to the max!). No, Slipknot are shit and can't play their instruments (yes, even the drummer. C'mon, he's not that fucking good!). Everyone knows they only wear masks because the masks look better than their real backwater inbred Southern dipshit faces!
(takes breath). Rant over. Other than that, SOAD are the best. Static X are listenable, about, although I find the guy's voice incredibly annoying.

I like all Incubus albums actually, the last one is a bit weaker than the others but I can see what the guys are trying to do and whey're they're heading to... they probably got scared of becoming another MTV band and so they spiced their mix a bit.... it's not that successful yet but I have hiopes for their future :D

Not a fan of Incubus, newer stuff especially.

SOAD annoys the hell of me. Build A Prison!!! Repeat ad nauseum

You liked the Slipknot single? That song was about as pop as at gets. I think their drummer is pretty good, Slipknot is ok background music when there is nothing else to listen to.

And the catchiness was the only reason I liked it. As for your other point, there's ALWAYS something else to listen to!

Soil's second album "Scars" is pretty good. I haven't heard their first, and their third was mediocre.

Soil has some catchy songs but they get boring as shit real fast, but this is true of pretty much all nu metal.

i asked the emos in school and they denied they were emos, but i think...
emo=pop-punk with more winy vocals and very catchy and commercialised, with emphasis on being anti-establishment and having fun. better ask emokid, really.
