You forum people have been really annoying me lately, so much that I've had to go back and edit a lot of my posts to remove all the swearing. It seems that every so often we have to have someone making a complaint about how overbearing and horrendously behaved the MR team supposedly are when it comes to the forum. Of course, like Adam points out here and like I did back in the day, all you people do is post here. You don't support the site, either financially or through writing for it, like we do, and so you only have a limited say in matters. Those rules were worked out and discussed extensively by Adam, myself and Minty, and we're pretty damn proud of them. They set limits, but don't infringe at all on your essential rights and liberties. They are designed, like the American Constitution, to work for you rather than against you, and making whiny bitch comments about how no thread should be locked (or this nonsense that the rules should be invisible, unspoken tenets that all forumites know instinctively, like refilling the kettle if you empty it and not shitting in the boss' drawer) is just ungrateful.
Like Adam says, we damn well fought for this forum. Back in the day, I sent more than a couple of emails to Mike arguing forcefully against the closure of the forum permanently, and being told - by fellow moderators, no less! - that it's lame to lock threads in Helheim is just a slap in the face, plain disrespect. Why on earth should Helheim be allowed to descend into some nameless pit where you are all free to post naked girls with sink plungers on their faces to your heart's content? Helheim already threatens to overwhelm the woefully under-used genre forums, and if we allowed it to become the physical embodiment of 4chan then I'd push for its annihiliation myself.
Lucifer's Son, you are being fucking ridiculous if you leave. I asked you back myself after your last departure, not because I wanted a source of bitching nonsense but due to your musical knowledge. If you've just been waiting for the first opportunity to attack, then it doesn't say much for you... no-one is asking you to leave, far from it. All Adam is saying is, give the nonsense a rest. We make Stephen Fry look like Richard Littlejohn in our Moderation of this forum, and if you don't appreciate it then we're not to blame, since we have bent over backwards to accommodate this little Medieval community of whining wretches. You want us to crack down and give you something to genuinely complain about? Of course not, so stop being a silly blighter and concentrate on making the MR forum more than the misshapen, infected appendix to the main site that it's in serious danger of becoming.
