Did you really just make a comparison to Cowboys in Hell?

So when 2 people in less than 5 hours tell me to check this album out, I decided to stop wasting my time and get it.

Good thing I downloaded it and didn't waste my money on it.

I feel that a 78 is too high. I'd probably give this a 70 tops. It has it's moments, but after that it just gets boring. I've listened to it 3 full times, at the least. It was hard the first time through, times 2 and 3 were staggeringly hard. It's not bad, but it's far from good.

There Zad, you got my opinion on it. Just took me a week to voice it.

Yet considering that the only Pantera album I even bother pretending to enjoy is Cowboys From Hell, I found myself really digging The Onslaught.
i.e., I can barely tolerate Cowboys I even might say I pretend to like it, yet this album I find to be really snazzy. There is some comparison going on is there not?

I always find it funny how generations differ. Old school metalheads really dig this album. The younger kids don't, yet they imply they know thrash and metal just as well as the old schoolers. Nonsense, of course.

Back when I was first getting into music, I could give a fuck about bands from the 70s. And screw anything earlier! Funny how now I really dig shit from the 70s, 60s, 50s, and it keeps going.

Fact is, you don't know shit until you hit 30. We're functioning retards. And at 30, you still don't know shit, but at that point you've just given up anyway and roll with it. Wish I could go back and just enjoy life like I do now instead of being so goddamn cynical and foolish. Guess that's part of life, though. Haha.

This is a solid album, though. Easy 75/100.

Well, not really. I was saying that this album is clearly influenced by Pantera. Then I said, although Cowboys is the one album now blah di blah blah, I still liked The Onslaught. It's saying more about how Lazarus AD mix their influences than comparing CFH to this album.

So Kenneth Benneth, you're saying I have the soul of an old-school Metalhead? ( :dio: )

It's the manner in which people express their opinions on not liking something. I'm not sure why people can't simply not enjoy something, whatever it may be, and leave it at that. There's always this counterpart to that where one must discredit an album or movie or actor, or whatever. You don't have to tear something down and declare yourself and opinion superior, you know. Just simply leave it at "I don't dig it."

And my comment was a general statement based on what I've seen online and elsewhere. I wasn't point fingers at anyone here.

I totally agree with you man, though I'd say there are other factors that affect peoples nature like upbringing,open-mindedness,asshole factor etc.Not to make myself sound all holy but I'm currently 25 and have been loving classic stuff since I was a little kid thanks to my folks before they went Uber-Christian.Sorry,just trying to say maturity normally happens to many later in life but there are a few(like myself, ask my milf gf and friends)who are fortunate to respect the opinions and beliefs of others. It definitely gets old, people being so "IT SUCKS!!" like they're the final jury.I always do my best to leave an open mind so that if I don't initially like something I may enjoy it when the time is right, and it happen far more often than people would like to admit.Being uncomfortable, wrong mood etc can greatly affect peoples opinion on art.

Anyway,good album. :dio:
