Thought this sounded pretty boring actually.. Still can't wait for the album though.

Give him credit, he sounds a LOT better here than he has for a good few albums. Not entirely sure what I make of the song as a whole, though the fact that I get a SFAM vibe from it is no doubt a good thing.

I have a question: Was it before or after the recording of Awake that LaBrie had that brief bout of food poisoning? I know Wikipedia says it was after, but his unusually gruff/hoarse voice on many of Awake's songs suggest to me that it might have been immediately before.

I always assumed it was after, seeing as he can still hit the really high notes on Awake that he's never really done since. I always thought the gruff voice was just to fit the heavier sound.

LaBrie sounded really good on that Score-dvd. Hit most high notes perfectly there,

Oh yeah. I couldn't agree more. Usually when I watch those I grimace b/c the singer will change their pitch for the high notes, but Labrie went all out and succeeded.

Liked the single, it'll take a few listens to really get into but I'm probably just as well off waiting for the album, DT aren't really a singles band...

Sure, he sounds good but "never sounded better" is way off.

I've ordered the three cd special edition of BC&SL from Amazon. I love this cd. It has some great Yes and Rush overtones on at least two of the tracks. I also love when DT borrow riffs from older songs and inject new life into them via a new composition ala 'The Shattered Fortress'.

Great cd!

I'll buy this album hopefully before the end of the year (may be in September?). This summer, however, I've already planned out the music I'll be buying. Specifically:

Tiamat - Wildhoney
Bad Religion - No Control

Okay, I'll shut up now before this thread goes off topic.

After watching them live at download yesterday, I realised that I really want a DT DVD or two, so going to Amazon, Score and Chaos In Motion look like the best bets, although the latter has very bad reviews... any help pls?

Loving this album, btw, esp. the last couple of tracks. Amazing stuff.

Live At Budokan kicks all sorts of ass. Lay off Chaos In Motion, and go for Score and Live At Budokan.

Couldn't agree more. Score is one of the best live DVDs I've ever seen.

Cheers lads, looks like Score and LAB it is.

Just so I know, how bad exactly is CiM?

Score is their best. Can't go wrong with that one. The others are really meh. Scenes from a memory couldv'e been great if LaBrie could get a hold of his voice.

Chaos in Motion is pretty average. LaBrie is a weak link as usual, the sound is rather meh, and the playing isnt top notch

Got their newest album this week and I haven't liked a DT album that much since Train of Thought.

The track Best of Times is reminiscent of Scenes from of a memory. As a whole the album is tight. The instrumental wanking is still there but serves the songs better than the past two albums which makes the guitar solos much more awesome in my opinion.

Great album overall although a little bit on the long side.

They do six covers on the 3 cd 'special edition'. Iron Maiden's 'To Tame a Land' is the last cover song and DT just nails it.

Fantastic work.

I would like to add that their cover of Rainbow's 'Stargazer' is quite good as well. Thank you and now you can all go back to whatever you were doing.

Have any of you listened to Neal Morse before? A friend of mine recommended him to me, and I'm listening to him right now.

He's a former member of Spock's Beard (a band I've been meaning to check out but never really got around to), and Mike Portnoy has actually collaborated with him on many of his albums. Morse's music is Christian prog-metal (ironic, since Portnoy is Jewish). But, if you don't mind that, I recommend checking him out. Especially if you like Spock's Beard and/or DT.

I've always been meaning to check out Spocks Beard. A buddy of mine has really good things to say about them.

I'm more than intrigued by the myspace samples.
