Quite tricky actually. I think thrash/death rely heavily on open E runs and power chords cos hey, that's the best genre for you to headbang to a groove. Black metal on the other hand, people barely headbang to it, just make weird/silly faces and poses as if they're possessed.

I voted NO, by the way. :D

Thrash has been pretty repetitive for the last 20 years though.

+1.

We don't need to reinvent the wheel. Thrash has been doing fine with the open E's and powerchords all this while.

You think that all Thrash sounds like Whiplash with different lyrics?

Oh, really?

Name some thrash bands that employ this one-note riff "pretty much", because the thrash bands I know of and listen to do nothing of the sort.

I mean, I'm hardly the forum's resident Thrash fanatic, but even I know that there's a good more variety than juannaman says.

That's what makes (good) thrash so fucking cool: the riffs.
Beneath The Remains, Twisted Into Form or Punishment For Decadence to name a very few, are all chock full of twists and turns.
I find it very hard to take his statements the slightest bit seriously.

well goat well done for being suspicious because the main aim of joining your forum is for a paper on underground groups for my university course on anthropology.
i am doing this section through use of gonzo journalism and to be honest most of the time i never really knew what i was talking because in real life i rarely listen to metal and i have been on various forums of different underground groups just for my paper
i am sorry for any of the strange and incoherent comments but it's over now

Awesome.

If that's true you have to send us a copy of the finished version.

I mean, you have to... I believe academic standards and ethics oblige you to.

You can give it to us once it's been marked and processed, though, surely?

Can't wait to see what you write about us :D
