sux. THey have some good songs and play the guitars pretty okay but that's it. And they suck live. Heafy can't sing and both him and the other guy play sloppily.

VoD are not metalcore. Stop being so French.

They're hardcore with metal elements... Not metalcore per sé, but could appeal to youngsters that thing Trivium is good because they don't know shit. :P

Very little metal. In fact, they were sort of in their own little hardcore niche. Like Snapcase. Not many bands come close to sounding like VoD.

Awesome band, though, so it's at least a good recommendation.

I like Trivium. I wouldn't give anything they've done higher than an 80-85, though, I mostly just dislike it when people hate on them when, as other people mentioned, there are at far worse bands. I respect the middle-of-the-road opinion.

i saw them live back before they were a metallica cover band.
I liked Ascendancy I haven't heard it in a while, but if I listen to it now it would be like a trip down memory lane.

See that's the thing that bugs me. People aren't allowed to hate them if they don't like them without being called "closed minded" or "elitist".

With that being said I really don't like them. Anything I've heard by them bores the crap out of me.

the good thing about them is that they are like a portal band which people start listening to then they move on to something else
so they aren't entirely useless and they do have a few decent solos

I'll be honest and say I enjoyed Ascendancy when it first came out quite a bit, but as time went on the album lacked any staying power. Don't like what they're doing these days, didn't care for The Crusade outside of " We Are The Fire " Only because the music video is hilarious when the whole " WOooohhhhhh Ohhhhhh ohhhhh " thing kicks in.

Whatever serves as an introduction to the real thing is alright.
There's always been bands that were aimed towards younger audiences but lead the curious ones to more challenging acts, deal with it and stop the nonsensic "maaaaan, methul is fucked" routine.

I really don't see a lot of people or know anyone that listens to Korn, I haven't since I was like 15. I know they're still popular but I don't think they're as big as they used to be like, you know, in 2000 or something.

Also, I don't care for a lot of these so called " metal " bands today that are in the more popular spotlight, but I'll take what we have today compared to when I was growing up. I had to deal with like bands playing 3 chords the whole song and calling it metal, that whole nu metal phase.

hahaha... remember this?

you think you're tough
harder than stone
you think you're tough
your talks gettin' old
you think your tough
hard as a stone
you think your tough

or how about this Golden Oldie:

I can take you up, I can tear you down
I'm a heat wave comin' at you
Takin' what I please, fallin' on your knees
You need me, yes you do.
From the moment I take over
You're gonna call me back for more
Down on your knees
Down on your knees
Get down on your knees...

The "real thing" being what exactly? There is no such thing as the real thing in music.
