I remember people comparing their newest album to Death's Symbolic in terms of the guitar harmonies and technicality.
I saw them a few days ago and they were a hell of a live show.
Any fans of their work?

Yep, very nice band. Diminishing... was a highlight of 2008 for me. They have some soul in their music which can be lacking in other tech-death bands I find.

The guitars are so technical that they don't sound like guitars. I prefer Odious Mortem which are the same members and style but just better.

This guys are good, but I can't see the comparison with Death though. Chuck owns this kids anytime.

yeah, there's a huge disconnect in the two bands because Death repeat riffs and have verse/chorus based songs while Decrepit Birth rarely repeat anything. i kind of wish they would because i always feel "omg cool riff" but then they're doing something else half a second later.

Haven't listened to any of their stuff, will check it out. Comparing them to Death is a pretty tall order, though.

They're a very talented and exciting band.

There is only one way to listen.

I did it for both.

Decrepit Birth wins.

I'm assuming not A Celebration of Guilt or the song Diamond for Disease. http://www.last.fm/user/DevotedWalnut/l ... usic/arsis

Noodles told me to listen to a song, I did. I then just followed links. Can't remember names, I like Decrepit Birth better. Get over it. It's not that I didn't like what I heard with Arsis, I just DB better.

To be honest, I wasn't crazy about Arsis when I first heard them. They are different, so they take some getting used to.

As I said, I didn't not like them. I just don't get what all the fuss is about.

But they are better than practically every other melodeath band out there.

Doesn't take much effort that..

If you consider The Crown somewhat of a melodeath band, then no. Arsis do not beat them.

Bigger fan of Arsis, but Decrepit Birth is very good.
