Messiah is great, but there's little personality in his vocals. It's all herniated bellowing. While not a bad thing, really, Lowe is far more dynamic and powerful.
Messiah is the better frontman, though. Lowe is pretty mellow on stage in comparison.
I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that Messiah's vocals are lacking personality, but you're right that Lowe is more versatile. He really fits the more aggressive tone Leif's songwriting has taken recently. In contrast, songs like those on Nightfall were tailor made for Messiah.
Maybe emotion is a better word than personality. Lowe is more like an actor that really gets into a role, you know. You
feel his performance more than Messiah's.
