I've enjoyed a static-x song here and there but the few songs I've heard on this are exactly as described in the review, incredibly boring. This is just completely monotonous crap.

someone apparently deserving of not one but two songs dedicated to her in the forms of Tera-Fied and Stingwray, both of which suck as hard as she no doubt used to do.

Let's face it, we'll never see another Wisconsin Death Trip or even Shadow Zone... and even then, that wasn't exactly the album of the century. The last one was terrible and this is even worse, I think. I swear I could swap the tracks and I couldn't tell which one is playing. This album redefines boring to me...

I'm sure it's no surprise that I dig this album. That said, Zad, you should never have reviewed this in the first place. It's clear that you are very biased when it comes to this band. Reviews should not be about ranting.

But I'm sure I've said such things here long ago. Static-X are still around, survivors of an era of music that is universally trashed these days, much like 80s rock was in the 90s. That speaks volumes. Static-X has a very large fan base, and those fans will really dig this album (despite it's sort of "soft" guitar tone). That's what matters.

Not sure what your problem is, then, if reviews should be about ranting! I mentioned their fanbase in the review; alas, a large fanbase is not something to base a musical recommendation off. You have to admit that this album is much more dull that their last; heck, if I ever can be bothered, I'll review Wisconsin Death Trip and give it at least a 70. It's not about being biased; I like their good songs. Unfortunately for Static-X, they have very few.

Hold on, I think I still have a Static-X promo around that I haven't even begun to listen to. Thanks for making me remember my promo, and thanks for making me ban this band to the netherside of my memory again

Curse the elusive contraction!

I'll agree that this album isn't as good as the last, or their best, but as a fan of this band, it is far from bad. It's a good album.

And a large fan base shouldn't be used as a recommendation point, but it is telling. Objectivity is a reviewers greatest tool. If a reviewer starts in on the "a million people can be wrong" stuff, then they're writing from the wrong perspective. Not saying you necessarily did that here, of course, but it's close. And no one can do the "a million people can't be wrong" stuff, either. I think that's a stronger viewpoint, but you still can't use it.

You have to write for both sides. What's good about this album, Zad? Nothing? There's nothing positive about this review. And surely the album isn't that bad. Your review focuses only on the negative. That's where it starts and that's where it stays and ends. When you focus on (i.e. don't mock) the positive aspects of an album—and 99.9% of albums have them—you'll find that the pros lend credibility to the cons. Without that balance, it just sounds like trash-talk, for lack of a better term.

You sure you missed me? I promise, I won't be posting that much.

Take that back. This album is so bland and Zad's review is pretty right on. What really is their to be positive about? It's not that long.

Zad seemed to like some parts of it but I myself really hated Cannibal.. :P

I can't see much anything enjoyable on it and even less this one. Thank god it's only 40 minutes long... and that's overlong already. I think my IQ dropped after the third.. or fourth? song.. I can't tell them apart much...

Seriously, I like a little dose of WDT or even Shadow Zone once in a while but this... hell no.

I love how people who know they don't like a band go out and download an album just so they can go, "Yup, they still suck balls."

Did you read the review? He says that he appreciated former albums and hoped for something good.

Yeah, this just honestly isn't a very good album. Cannibal and Start a War were good 'nuff, though.

Randomly deciding to check Rammstein out again the other day, I realised that they are, in fact, everything that Static-X aren't, and their vocalist is awesome rather than annoying. Yes.
