Didn't even know they had a new one coming out anytime soon. Loved Grey Islands and hopefully this will top it.

Edit: Four tracks in and it seems Candlemass hasn't dropped the ball yet. No bombastically catchy tunes like Grey Islands but I'm pretty sure that album took a few listens to hook me.

Nah, it'll come out a week from this Friday in Europe, and then a month later in North America. This is what I've heard many times, and their site and Nuclear Blast's site still have those dates up.

I wish it would come out sooner. Listened to the whole thing on their myspace today. I liked it better on first listen than I did King of the Grey Islands.

So this album is amazing and possibly better than Grey Islands. I wish it had a song comparable to Embracing the Styx.

New album sounds funky-fresh!

And because I'm already in love with you cool cats, I'll share this little nugget. I bought a USB vinyl ripper recently and ripped this tune.

Black Dwarf (feat. Robert Lowe)

This song comes from a rare 7-inch EP. Be warned! I still haven't quite figured out how to make shit sound good (you have to sort of mix things), so the recording here is shoddy and too bass-heavy. But I'm sure you can dig on the not-so-fresh...uh...freshness.

Love me.

Just before the drama starts, I will state that I have honestly missed you, you frizzy-haired freak. Welcome back, I'll check this track out post-haste.

You must be referring to my cousin Jimmy. We look a lot alike.

This is pretty good but I've got to say I miss Messiah's vocals... Sure, Robert Lowe's a good singer but he sounds very "normal" which made listening to this album a little less enjoying experience.

IMO Rob is an outstanding vocalist "normal" doesnt do the guy much justice, my problem with king of the grey islands is that although i enjoyed it i felt that alone had much better songwritting and made the candlemass effort seem a little bit bland in comparission, this doesnt happen with the new one and i feel that Rob truly shines on this one.

Seriously? I miss Messiah's vocals too, but Lowe is an outstanding replacement. Their styles are completely different, so its not easy to compare the two, but Lowe is anything but "normal". In fact, right now you'd have a hard time finding a better traditional doom vocalist (because there isn't one).

I think Lowe is the best doom vocalist ever, and easily top 3 if he's not. He's also one of the best metal vocalist ever. No question.

Messiah is great, but there's little personality in his vocals. It's all herniated bellowing. While not a bad thing, really, Lowe is far more dynamic and powerful.

Messiah is the better frontman, though. Lowe is pretty mellow on stage in comparison.

i prefer Lowe too. partly because he pronounces words better, partly because his voice has a bit of a rasp to it that makes it more powerful than Messiah's strong but unremarkable singing.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that Messiah's vocals are lacking personality, but you're right that Lowe is more versatile. He really fits the more aggressive tone Leif's songwriting has taken recently. In contrast, songs like those on Nightfall were tailor made for Messiah.

Lowe better buck up on his stage persona then, since I WILL find a way to see them next time they tour in the US. :D
