The poor guy seems to be regret his crap. And they probably were being harsher with his paroles than usual simply because he became such of a manson-like figure.

"The poor guy seems to be regret his crap."

lol

I still can't really feel sympathy for an an anti-semetic guy who stabbed someone else 40-whatever times in the back of the head with a sword. That's just me, though.

I don't know, there seems to have been a lot of tension between the two of them before the murder, and who knows, Varg's self-defense story might actually be true to some extent.

Nobody stabs a person 40 times in self-defense.

But he can really be regreted, and he has the right, law in hand, to start a new life (but better if there's no casio near him).

It wasn't 40, but claimed to be 25. Varg claims the wounds on the back were from Euronymous hitting a light bulb and smashing as he fell down the stairs.

And it wasn't a sword, but a knife.

Did they check the depths of the gapes in his back?
I seriously doubt it would be because of a lightbulb.

In any event hopefully he gets back to producing music, I wonder what the next Burzum release will be like.

I think he's just going to the farm and then disappearing. He's obviously made enough money off of his old music to not worry about finances. I don't want him to make new music either, most bands who get back together after being apart in the outside world can't get it together. I can only imagine how much 16 years in prison would change someone. It won't be the same.

Varg is crazy as fuck and shouldnt have been released. The kind of sick shit he has locked in his brain cannot be cured by a mere 16 years. Plus in 2003 he "failed to return" to jail and was caught trying to flee the country with a mass of weapons. This man is crazier than a shit house rat and has pretty much lied his way through the whole legal process. That bit about self defense is a crock of shit, no one stabs someone 25 times as a matter of self defense, more like offense. Plus that bit about the light bulb is complete shit as well. This man is an anti-semitic murderer who destroys irreplaceable architecture that whether he likes it or not, is a part of his countries heritage. They should have kept this sick shit locked up for the rest of his life. His music is a good indication of what goes on inside his mind.....coldness, and from what I've heard, simplicity. You can't rehabilitate such a sick, simple mind. All he learned in jail, is that next time he shouldnt get caught. Can't wait to hear about his next brush with the law, my guess is he'll crucify his children for showing "signs of Christian influence" and then will proceed to burn his new farm down and anything not pagan within a 15 mile radius...or however far his parole officer lets him go en route to a mass suicide on some pagan altar somewhere. Fuck 'em.

Of course it won't be the same! It can actually better.
He probably grew up musically in those 16 years and, considering Burzum was quite rough and simple, it is not impossible that the new and improved Varg will actually release his best material now...

Holy Terror, fuck off and stop trolling.

I agree with EI, he'll probably just disappear. Good for him.

Do they have tabloids there? I'm imagining paparazzi chasing him on thoroughbreds trying to get a shot of chinscar.

I think HT has a point especially about learning not to get caught the next time. I don't think this guy will avoid comitting a crime again. But, if he does change, good for him. I read somewhere that he did want to continue with Burzum. But that article was a few years back. I have yet to check out this band and from what I have read, I think I have missed something. Any recommendations on where do I start?

First two albums (inc. Aske EP) for raw, sort of catchy, subtly weird Black Metal, next two for long, atmospheric Black Metal with lots of keyboards, and avoid the last two albums since they're all keyboard and are batshit insane. Never heard any demos.

So, nobody thinks Varg can reinvent Burzum?
It's going to be different, no doubt about that, and I'm sure if he does it, the trOO BMers are going to hate it.
I think it can very well be some kind of a dark ambient/post-folk thingy, hopefully instrumental.

It all depends, frankly. Maybe he's still a mentalist nazi and we'll get splits with Graveland! I suppose the most likely courses are either he'll just vanish, or he'll sign to Candlelight and release some atmospheric tosh that everyone goes nuts over.

Catchy and atmospheric BM with keyboards, both appeal to me. So, I guess all four will be good. Thanks :)

Well if he's still a cold person, he wouldn't be smiling for that picture wouldn't he?

I think he's been there long enough to learn a good lesson. And his capture before he tried to flee with those arms is good enough to tell him that anymore shit, and he's back in the can in no time. He's a weird guy, no doubt, but hey, everyone deserves a second chance. OK third for his case.
