He's right. There is a noticeable pussified aspect of all these new power metal bands that are taking cues from Edguy and Nocturnal Rites. They sound like pop bands. It's actually kind of disturbing..to think that there is a resurgence of pop metal....it's like the fuckin hair metal bands all over again.

Now you're being way to harsh!
But yes, I can see where you're coming from but I can't back it up. Those kind of bands aren't playing the most technical or the most original Metal but they do play music that they love themselves, and they are more interested in offering an album you can headbang to and have fun with... rather than masturbating their songs to the extreme. But even I get tired of it sometimes and turn to more complex or more techincal stuff... Well, hmm. :)

I don't particularily want technical... I want balls! And, imoh, these bands seriously lack in that department...

And, Holy Teror, I enjoy hair metal you know... Just, I'm not looking for armless fun when invistigating the "power" metal diffusion... Is there ONE band able to produce something that is both aggressive and fun... Kinda like Brocas Helm's Skullfucker you see... Now this is POWER metal ! :dio:

Yeah, that's it exactly. I like it all, but what I hate is bad songwriting.

Bring it on.

And why is it pop metal is okay as long as it's extremely techincal.

If it's simple and catchy, it automatically sucks. Huh.

Bands like Sonata Arctica, Angra and Serenity have a good pop sensibility, just like Dio used to and stuff like that.

AQs far as Dreamland not having balls, they have as much balls as accept, and that's the minimum amount of balls you need.

haha, well I seem to like a lot of 80s rock/metal so yeah, I think Foreigner is much better than cheesy modern power metal.

Uhhh, have you heard the song "Destiny" if that's not an accept rip off, then hammerfall are 100% original.

1. Foreigner sucks
2. Bon Jovi really sucks

No one sucks as much as Journey though.

and:

3.) hair metal sucks as well.

There is no sense in defending hair metal, or anything moderately similar. Everyone is well aware of what happened in the late 80's because of hair metal bands. The music sucked, the bands just cared about their image, and it just became a big joke to everyone. I see this shit happening again....even with black metal bands. THere's a whole slew of bands coming out who are really heavy on imagery and less heavy on...oh lets say good song writing. The whole mess of "retro" thrash metal bands are guilty of this. Symphonic black metal bands as well (has anyone seen Nicholas Cage's son's band???), Edguy have been steering the flag ship for this kind of metal for years now. It's turning into one big joke again. That's my rant. I just reallly hate gutless metal, and that seems to be what's happening....to all genres. At least the new Kreator album was half decent...too many modern influences though.

Didn't ya know? Shagrath of Dimmu Borgir is married to Cage's ex-wife and her son and his band was gonna play on some concert of celebration.

I think it was terrorizer or metal hammer, whatever is the big UK mag, Shagrath was quoted as saying that metal is just as much about image as the music. My jaw dropped and I finally understood why he was able to release DCA with a good conscience.

Tis a shame. This is the same thing that happened in the 80's. Image started getting in the way of the music and....voila!! You have bands like Winger and Bullet Boyz. It's not to the same degree currently as it was then...but the pendulum is shifting dangerously close...close enough to at least cause some concern.

The Bullet Boyz are awesome. SMOOTH UP IN YA!

You're right, though. Tis a shame indeed.

Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the Other Side

That's about the only Power Metal band I can listen to over and over again.
