You're confusing Acid with Heroin, Brahm. Heroin was the designer drug of the 90's, and that can be the only explanation for those horrendous photos in the Load booklet.

We already know Dave was on the needle when he did Risk.

Sweet!!! Megadeth have always stayed true to their colors. I'm glad they'll be out with something new soon. United Abominations was pretty good...

Yea man I know. They haven't really done anything overly douchy like what Metallica did with their last several albums (barring Death Magnetic, which I think was sort of a comeback).

Actually, Megadeth are one of my favourite, if not my actual favourite, band of all time. So yeah, I do prefer their earlier stuff to Metallica's. Just, UA wasn't so great, although some (not many though) of the tracks on it were excellent.

Lyrically Megadeth are a bit more interesting... even if UA was full of dumb neocon stuff it at least made you think or made you laugh... better than "What don't kill you, makes you more strong".... aaaagh grammar!

That said, musically I prefer DM to UA.

Overall I like Death Magnetic better, even though I can't stand the drumming at all.

But my favourite song definitely comes from United Abominations.

For me Death Magnetic is clear better, because UA has sure some classic stuff like Sleepwalker or Washington is next but too many midtempo songs. Megadeth has to be fast, or at least half of the album has to be fast. On UA there is only the two openers who are faster, but the rest is just too slow (except the final two minutes of Burnt Ice , but that doesn't save it). Nothing against UA in general, but Death Magnetic is longer, much faster and more varied and just better.

United Abominations and The System has failed were two good steps back to the form of the 80s, but it can be better and I hope the next record will - because the hope dies last.

UA is much more intricate but DM seems to be more catchy and a little more rugged. In the end I feel the songs on UA are better because they have more depth and more things to listen to. DM is great the first few times around but gets boring after that.

I'm really looking foward to the new Megadeth. No doubt the solos are going to be great. I just hope they can step it up a notch in the riff department.

I haven't really liked anything by megadeth except Rust in Peace, which is one of my favorite albums. I've only heard UA, Countdown to Extinction, Peace Sells, and RiP...but still.

But I can still hope this will be good!

Metallica have clearly sat there chewing a pen, trying to think of rhyming words. At least Mustaine is telling a story and using metaphors and shit. Plus, Sleepworker alone is better than any song on DM.

There are tons of metaphors on DM you just have to use your mind... like on the end of the line. Its a metaphor to the end of your life, getting burned out trying to live it, running out of gas, wasting things, ect... . I like James rhymes. You can look at Death Magnetic as a concept album the same way you can look at Master of Puppets or ...And Justice For All as a concept album.

Peace Sells is the best...

I said that.

In that none of them are concept albums at all?

I think Megadeth has been moving up and making better albums as of late, so I think the next one should be really killer. I loved United Abominations, and it was heads and shoulders above The System Has Failed.

I really can't wait for this one. Mustaine is probably my favorite singer/guitarist in metal.

frankly both were great albums but mustaine's lyrics are more socially aware than metallica's but that said the death magnetic concept is very innovative
most people don't that these two bands have produced great lyrics over the years

I guess if the concept is to make coin, then they did one hell of a good job.
