We do need more black metal reviews, ie: Eldrig's album from last year.

The ingratitude... Besides:

:omfg:

As for Eldrig, hmm. Will need to look into the guy's belief system a little more before I even consider reviewing a band with a theme like that.

If Burzum aren't allowed, then no way Eldrig is allowed.

Maybe people could write lots of reviews over their holidays or something and then they could be released over time? Or is that just not what Chris is looking for?

I'd love to as well, (also prove to some people here that I'm not completely ignorant about music) but don't have the time at all...

Now that's a challenge. :P

I think it's the capability to produce each week that's the kicker, Rhys. We could have an oceanful of people producing stuff every so often; what's required is the ability to do reviews every week without fail.

That's exactly what is really holding me to volunteer. I'm pretty sure I could catch up with the new bands of a specific metal genre, however I don't think I can keep up with weekly reviews. But since I will review cd's for a site/magazine run by a friend of mine, I will see how that goes, and who knows, maybe one day I'll do the same here.

If you don't mind my asking, why is it so important to have people who can crank out reviews on a consistent basis?

Otherwise, the situation becomes that you have a small dedicated section and the rest, who review stuff when they feel like it. What happens when the dedicated ones can't manage to review anything? Then we won't get enough reviews to make updating the site worth it, and on that path sooner or later the site will die. I've seen it before -> www.blastwave.co.uk Metal Reviews deserves better, I think.

I think the forumites who've been here for ages would put up with the updates not being solid every week, but in terms of casual traffic/getting new traffic, solid updates every week is probably pretty important.

The main reason I'm not too sure about putting my name forward is the fact that I don't really have the funds to afford two new albums per week to review and I refuse to download stuff. I could probably pad out the archive a little though.

hmm... We get a lot of reviewer requests... I'm in the same position as you, and I accept pretty much everything. It's possible to make promo deals with smaller labels too... At least I have.

I could do one per week, but two would quickly become a strain upon my time.
