Well, although I respect the decision of MR of a Metallica week and given the fact I can definitely understand why these guys are hailed as legendary, I honestly never was much into the band, even in their early days (blasphemy!...

). Sure, they've got some timeless and immediately recognizable tunes (Enter Sandman, One, Creeping Death, Nothing Else Matters and a few more) but they were never anything to tear down the walls for me.

All I'll say about these guys is that they have my respect for their contribution to the metal scene, even though they're not my cup of tea. That said, I have listened to everything of theirs and I do listen to their new releases, if at least to know what I'm talking about. As far as Death Magnetic goes... it's an ok album. It won't change my opinion on the band but at least it's listenable compared to the likes of the previous album we all know and won't mention...

... and that's my 2¢ for this week.

I'm not an elitist... I just don't like and have never liked metallica. I think they're boring. I like what MR did here though. Should bring some interesting flamewa... I mean discussion. :ph34r:

Glad to see I'm not alone in my world of finding Metallica (mostly) boring. I'm definitely not an elitist either (I rather despise them) but like Ness, I just don't like the band much.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe they could do it for the missing Bathory albums next year on the fifth anniversary of Quorthon's passing.

Even though I find Metallica to be overrated, this is still all right by me, and weeks like this can help freshen up the site a bit. Like it or not, Metallica is the biggest metal band ever, and even if you dislike a lot of their work (like me) and think that they were never the super amazing band everyone makes them out to be, every metal website should have reviews for all their albums.

Now if only we could get Priest or Maiden weeks...
