If you only like Thrash, then it will be your favourite DT album, but if you expect progressive metal, then other DT records are just a little bit more sophisticated and a little bit more DT.

I'm on the same boat with TMW316 here. His reasoning in the previous post also applies and is valid for me. I got to know and loved Dream Theater playing stuff like Images & Words or Awake. So, for me, anything that strays too far from that style was/is a miss.

I agree with this, but I think Systematic Chaos and Octavarium are pure shit, ToT is way better.

Dream Theater covering Master Of Puppets. LaBrie can't do aggressive. It's really funny. 7:50 is pure comedy.

Petrucci needs to stop being a bitch, and let a second guitarist into the band, or let Rudess play it when required. It would surely ameliorate the material they're covering.

But nooo...

I've yet to hear Octavarium properly, but Systematic Chaos is far from shit.

Systematic Chaos is good but Octavarium is definately DT's weakest to date imo.

Though to be honest I'm not really into DT as much as I used to be cause I'm discovering superior prog metal stuff like Opeth or Symphony X.

I find Falling Into Infinity strangely interesting, simply because it's all over the place.

And Lines In The Sand slays, I don't care what anyone else says.

Have you forgotten New Milennium?

Falling Into Infinity is a good album, but it definately slips up sometimes.

new millenium never clicked for me.... Boring isn't the right word but, not good enough. But definately one of the better ones.

Yeah, I don't care about New Millenium (they tried to stick all three Ozzy guitarists styles in there and it couldn't have been more obvious) I think it "wasn't good enough" myself.

I liked Fii quite well. I thought the second half of the album was pretty boring. But I still like Burning my soul, Hollow Years, peruvian skies, lines in the sand. That stuff was great.

I really sense that that could have been their best album if they were left to their own devices on it, but they weren't and the results were less than what could have been.

Anyone heard the Falling Into Infinty demos? I hear they're much improved. They were selling it at their merch desk, should have got it.

I listened to the making of, but skipped the "alternate" versions of the songs. To me if it isn't the studio version, it isn't canon and thusly I will either never listen to it or very rarely listen to it.

Every song I've heard, that didn't made it on Falling into..., is better than anything on the album self...
