+1, any metalhead who has actually listened to actually awesome metal would not have time for Trivium, as well as the vast majority of metalcore. Trivium are a bunch of fags who'd like nothing more than to be Metallica groupies, and BFMV....., well you only have to actually listen to their emo wannabe-tough bullshit, oh and check out the horrible, horrible video for Waking the Demon, made me fucking cringe.
After listening to the likes of Celtic Frost, Mayhem, Morbid Angel, Opeth, Candlemass, Emperor, Cynic and Dark Tranquillity, how can you listen to the kind of shit that keeps receiving Metal Hammer lip service?
Don't judge metal bands by their music videos ( watch this

).
Maybe I'm not so ignorant and disregarding everything thats in the mainstream press. I only differ between I like and I don't. Or is Enter Sandman a bad song? Or War Ensemble, only it was played by MTV?
I think it's better when Bands are trying to play something what Metallica played in the 80s - and not what Metallica played in the late 90s.

And The Crusade or Scream Aim Fire are more thrash than metalcore.
I'm not SO old but I know that in the early 80s Bands like Sodom and Hellhammer were laughed at and today they are the Old School Heroes. Wait 20 Years and Trivium are the Old School shit. ;)
But back to topic: Dragonforce are best, when they play ultrafast Power Metal - and why should they change to something, in which they are maybe not so good?
There are only a few bands who are good in every style. Dream Theater for example. They can play everything. But Bands like AC/DC or Motörhead shouldn't try to play Synthie Pop or Melodic Black Metal.
