IMO Misha was never a metalhead.

Honestly i got nothing against brodening your horizons, i believe you should listen to whatever you like, but i do think that non metal reviews on a metal site is a no, and this has nothing to do with being true or kult or whatever as this site is anything but trve or kvlt (and thats why i like it) , but because it just doesnt fit with the site, i know there are some bands that are hard to define within a genre and might be ok to be included on a metal site, but there are some that clearly dont, saying Foo Fighters or Pearl Jam are metal is obviously wrong, and i do like some Pearl Jam (No Code is My favourite) so why include them here? seriously if you want to talk about how cool is the new Foo Fighters album, why not just make a post on this very same forum? (or like Ken and his mini reviews) of course i know im in the minority and in the end you reviewers can do whatever you like but i still think that Metal Reviews should stay metal reviews.

Since when do you have to be a metalhead to appreciate metal? I'm not a metalhead either but metal is one of the "genres" I enjoy and Misha or Zad or Rio are in the same position. Being a metalhead is, if it means you have to be true to metal and never listen to anything that's not remotly linked to it, is very stupid.
I'm not saying any of you guys should force himself to listen to other music genres or anything mind you but excluding this or that artist just because is not metal is just nonsense !
And I don't see the problem of having a few non-metal albums reviewed on a metal website... It brings a different perspective than it'd do on another website and may interest some people that didn't think about it in the first place.
Look at the genres that have been reviewed this week: Ambient/ Electronica, Neofolk, Soft Rock... And the week before that: Dark Ambient Drone, Blues Hard Rock... Does these fit a metal website in your book? Imho, they don't but, who the fuck cares as long as the other stuff gets reviewed too and if it appeals to some of the forumites?
If one of the team want to review the new Britney Spears FROM A METAL PERSPECTIVE, I'm all for it as long as there's more "real" metal albums reviewed alonside...

Just my two cents...

No you dont have to be a metalhead to appreciate metal and that was exactly my point Misha wasnt a metalhead but he liked some Black Metal, so that "Those metalheads that never change..." sentence doesnt apply to Misha as he wasnt a Metalhead in the first place (thats not an insult BTW), and about the reviews, like i said reviewers can do whatever they like, but i dont have to agree with it do i? i always stay out of disscusions of music that doesnt interests me, but i honestly feel that non metal reviews just creates flamewars and trolling, and i know you dont agree with me but im not trying to make changes here just expressing my opinion.

You're wrong, he also listened to some death and thrash metal... But, granted, black metal was his favourite.

Would you ladies stop slap-fighting over semantics of reviews? Old news. Fact: they are the reviewers. You are not. You don't get to choose the content from this site, and I fully embrace the non-metal reviews as a metalheads perspective into music that I might find interesting.

I love that so many have embraced this way of thinking, but where were you asshats when I reviewed here! Haha. Zad gave me shit for reviewing nu-metal; now he's reviewing the Foo Fighters! Haha.

Ah, how things change over time. Noodles has even gotten cooler.

I've been saying this all along. I may think the Foo Fighters suck and aren't terribly relevant to metal, but go ahead and review them.

I have very broad tastes in music as you know but I don't agree that people who listen only to metal "stupid fucks", as you put it.

The reason metal is still and most likely will always be my favourite genre (despite the fact I've been playing jazz for years and even studied it at uni, ) is partly because it has such a strong sense of tradition and identity. You don't get that unless the fans of it are dedicated to it- not just casual listeners who like a load of other stuff as well.

1. Foo Fighters are't nu-metal.
2. Noodles hasn't gotten cooler.

I don't think he meant to imply the Foo Fighters are nu-metal. Just that it's amusing that you would be reviewing, well, the fucking Foo Fighters man. That's a bit of a shock from a guy whose natural state of musical being is somewhere between Cephalic Carnagae and Leviathan.

Haha, true. Still, look at the response to the Foo Fighters review, over ten times that which CC got. If it affects people that strongly, there must be something interesting in it.

I think the shitstorm was more than it should have been. It's not that the Foo Fighters aren't terribly relevant to metal and thus shouldn't be reviewed. I just didn't like the Foo Fighters as a band. I responded to it the same as any other review, whether it be the Foo Fighters or In Flames.

I love how metal is scared of all the other music or something. People sitting back here warning about how Misha had an open mind and look at where he ended up. A cautionary tale of branching out. Heavy shit, man. Heavy shit.

Hahah, yes. It's funny, I got into the extreme stuff virtually from the beginning, and have been 'branching out' ever since. Still not got any At The Gates for example, which apparently is rly gd. I keep coming back to Metal anyways, esp. Death Metal, however far I wander.

I started off, briefly, with power metal. Then I found out technical death metal existed. Been branching out to every corner of the music world since then.

Within the broad hemisphere of modern rock music there are not many genres I enjoy less than nu-metal. This includes the Foo Fighters.
