I will explain I guess. I don't like nu metal. To me it's 'tolerable' but I won't be excited over the next 'Korn' cd or anything like that. It is what it is, and I'm sure you all have your many, many reasons. But, for some reason, I find Disturbed better then the other ones. Listenable in fact.

Now I do NOT like the albums The Sickness or Believe. Sickness was far too 'moody' and Believe was boring but....10,000 Fists...

Firstly they have guitar solos, which are actually not bad. I'd play guitar hero and found Stricken was a song I'd revisit, because it's actually kinda catchy.

Their vocalist I actually like. At least he's not bad like many other non-nu metal bands that are actually popular. Sure he's no Dio, but he's not terrible either.

Really, the first two albums are killed by their own respective downfalls, but there new efforts (Including the singles released from their newest effort, "Indestructible") actually sound good to me.

I don't want a flame war here. If you just bombard this topic with "lulz distrubed is a shitty band and i has a bigger pen1s then you." it's not proving anything. It's all a matter of taste I suppose.

Why? Screw what anyone else thinks! Your entire post is too timid. It should say, "Fuck you! Disturbed kicks ass."

Disturbed is a solid band, by the way.

Fuck you! We don't want n0n-kvlt metal fans trashing up these forums. This is a forum for real metalheads, THRASH OR DEATH! NU-METAL IS FOR FALSE MEN!

Sorry. I was possessed by a spirit of metal stupidity.

In small doses I like Disturbed. The song Prayer is what sold me on their skillz as a band. And since then I've enjoyed songs here and there. Definately one of the better bands of their chosen style.

They did a nice cover of Land of Confusion I'll give them that.

Yeah, exactly. I like Nu-Metal, even small doses of Limp Bizkit at times. This thread was like someone coming out as a gay.

Disturbed, I've never liked that much in comparison to Deftones or even Static-X. David Driahurrhurrhurrhan's voice grates a bit. Might check the new album out, because Metal Hammer says it is METAL and I'm a mental elitist if I don't like it. Might even review it, see if I can beat Aaron's ten-page flamefest from last time!

Still, this place has become progressively less kvlt. I'd have been burnt alive for reviewing Foo Fighters, once.

Haha, never shall you know my poser weaknesses. Disturbed are playing Download Festival and I'll probably end up watching them for shits and giggles. We'll see what I think then.

I'll agree with you on that as well. I actually find it better then the Genesis version.

Probably by yourself. I do believe my review subjects incurred the wrath of Zadok the Great numerous times.

By the way, from what I've heard, their new album is not "metal." Not in the sense that you're wanting, anyway.

That new song is pretty kick ass, though.

I think it's more that the everyone eventually gets bored of listening to nothing but tr00kvlt metal and decides to branch out. That's why we can review non-metal things here, because metalheads often branch out into genres with the same level of experimentation and technical virtuosity.

Also, Eyesore, the intro to that video was stupid. Not really a fan of the song either, but Disturbed has never been my thing. I guess I'm still sticking to KVLT or something.

I think you guys are getting older, at least those that have been on this forum for a few years. That's what happens for most people; their tastes broaden.

There will always be those morons that never change, though. See Hellride Music forums for examples.

High-five for broadening your tastes. I never understood why people refuse to enjoy certain things. Why would you LIMIT your enjoyment?

Well, i don't agree. I mean if a guy really likes black metal, like he never gets sick of it, even after listening to 7 hours straight, then i don't see a reason why he should start listening to Disturbed just to act "open minded". IMO people that broaden tastes are the ones that have to still find the music that fits them the most...

See what happened to Misha? He got curious... Those metalheads that never change are stupid fucks unable to sense that there is more than their beloved metal...

I'm talking about people who refuse to listen to other genres because they're "un-metal". I don't listen to much non-metal because a lot of it doesn't gel with me, but I won't refuse to listen to much music on principle like many kvlters will.

IMO Misha was never a metalhead.

Honestly i got nothing against brodening your horizons, i believe you should listen to whatever you like, but i do think that non metal reviews on a metal site is a no, and this has nothing to do with being true or kult or whatever as this site is anything but trve or kvlt (and thats why i like it) , but because it just doesnt fit with the site, i know there are some bands that are hard to define within a genre and might be ok to be included on a metal site, but there are some that clearly dont, saying Foo Fighters or Pearl Jam are metal is obviously wrong, and i do like some Pearl Jam (No Code is My favourite) so why include them here? seriously if you want to talk about how cool is the new Foo Fighters album, why not just make a post on this very same forum? (or like Ken and his mini reviews) of course i know im in the minority and in the end you reviewers can do whatever you like but i still think that Metal Reviews should stay metal reviews.
