God Hates Us All....

I'd seriously consider changing that sig Kath, because nobody should EVER quote anything from God Hates Us All!

And why is that, my dear friend?

Because that album had some of the lamest lyrics of any metal album released in the last decade (and certainly the lamest of any Slayer album I'd ever listened to)? That particular line you quoted sounds just like one of those "I hate my life and my parents and everything else" lines you'd expect to hear in one of those nu-metal songs you detest so much.

I just wrote that sig because it was relevant to a topic on this forum somewhere. It's not like my motto or something. But I don't think this is like anything written by a nu-metal band. While Tom is screaming these lines it sounds so cool. And the song kicks ass. GHUA is a pretty good (even great) album if you consider the guys ages. Unlike some other thrash godz (you know who I'm talking about)

It is a good album I'll admit. But it never fails to bother me that a lot of metal fans seem totally clueless about how forced its lyrics sound (including Tom's screaming). It's like Slayer knew that if they softened their sound, they'd basically ruin their careers so they faked their hate and aggression on GHUA because they knew this style of music was expected of them (otherwise, why would Tom purposely throw the f-word 30 times in one or two songs). It's still a good album with some good guitar riffs and is waaaaay better than a certain other album released two years ago by those "thrash godz" you were talking about, but in no way is it Slayer's best and it's certainly overrated in the metal community (probably because it's Slayer and as long as they don't release a folk inspired country album, everything they do will be hailed a masterpiece no matter how good it is).

By the way, did you know that about four years ago, Kerry King said in a Guitar World interview that he was a big fan of bands like Disturbed and Linkin Park and wanted to implement whatever made them popular into Slayer's music?

Well I didn't read the interview and I don't care if he said that or not obviously he didn't do what he said because there are very few nu-metal elements in this album and now that Lombardo is back I'm sure the next album will surely be a masterpiece (like GHUA and even better)

He says many stupid things anyway. Once I heard him say that Hatebreed was the next Slayer or something like that.

He said Chimaira was the next Slayer. You know, that shit NWOAHM band whose singer writes lyrics like:

'This is my life, this is my life
A seperation
Cleansation
This is my life, this is my life
It's not yours anymore!'

and

'Motherfuck it all
I can't stand this
Remember when I said
Everyone makes me sick
Well nothing has changed

I hate everyone '

And then gives their albums big pretentious Pink Floydian titles like 'Pass Out Of Existence' and 'The Impossibility of Reason.'

Yeah, Kerry King has lost his fucking mind.

Ya, Kerry King has lost all good taste in music and is now a fan of nu metal. And he hasn't released a good album since Seasons in the Abyss. The next Slayer album will be like their last couple: Shitty. Lombardo can't save them.

This is terrible. I certainly hope that the next album won't suck (you guys have broken my hopes) because I'll totally give up on thrash. ( I barely listen anyway but I used to be a maniac)

Heh heh.

Would it make you feel even worse to know that all of Chimaira's riffs are stolen from the C-sides of the Far Beyond Driven sessions (including such excellent songs as 35 Seconds and Two Decades of Hate) ? And that there are hilarious (bordering on parody) segments in which the lead vocalist tries to sing like Burton C. Bell, but ends up sounding like a combination of Captain Beefheart and Johnathan Davis?

I mean, I could go on.

I can't! I must SHOW NO MERCY!

Eh, on second thought... There is one good thing about The Impossibility of Reason:

The drummer, who used to play in Dying Fetus, totally rapes ass.

That's it.

What I find strange is how Metallica got to the point of feeling inferior to Linkin Park? What led them to that state of mind?Imagine if Iron Maiden started sucking up to Maroon 5!

Easily: Linkin Park was selling more records than Metallica. Metallica is not a band, it's a buisness.

Hey Kath, what did you think of Diabolus In Musica, with its more "modern" sound and that rap metal song Hate To Feel?

DIM was probably their worst album but it had some god songs in it. (In the name of god, Point, Bitter Peace)

So there's a rap song. I didn't know it. I probably skipped it every time after the first listen.
