Yes, the first Kiss record was much better than everything else Ace did. Going that route in trying to capture the magic of that record is a good idea but unlikely to work out. I see a bomb heading this way with Ace's Kiss-painted face on it, with Gene making a couple bucks off it somehow.

Well, let the following update play into your recent opinion on this:

"As previously reported, the new ACE FREHLEY album will be titled Pain In The Neck and will be out in the spring. About the album, Ace tells us "I'm trying to get back into the mindset of my roots. This album is going to be heavier than those FREHLEY'S COMET records. You know what I do? I read my fan mail. I listen to what the kids say and what they want to hear. They really want me to play heavier stuff, and do wild stuff. I think that is an element in music that is lacking today. There doesn't seem to be any guitar hero bands out there. I think guitar players today are too lazy. They don't want to practice. They talk to me; guitar players say, What can you tell me about being a guitar player?' And I say three things: 'Practice, practice and more practice' (laughs)."

Should be interesting......

I don't get it then. Is he going to do something like the first Kiss record, as suggested in the article or something insane as quoted in the above post?

I guess we wqill wait and see. As far as lazy guitarists as of recent, I don't know where he gets that info. Maybe the fact that guitarists are much better songwriters than they were in pervious generations is where that came from.

If it's anything close to his first solo album then I'll be happy! I liked the Frehley's Comet stuff but it was a bit more commercial oriented.
