I'm a little surprised United Abominations didn't get more recognition in this year's awards. Oh well....

This is just a guess, but its probably because it sucked. :P

I beg to differ. It wasn't as good as The System Has Failed, but I still liked it.

I just wanted to say thank you to all who work on this site and make it such a great place. Your time and devotion does not go unnoticed, nor taken for granted. All of your efforts are much appreciated.

You all do a fantastic job.

So, thanks for keeping this site running, writing great reviews, and giving us a place to discuss the music. I would like to give an additional "thumbs up" for turning me onto new bands and genres that I would otherwise not have been very open-minded toward.

I beg to differ they both sucked. Just joking but they are not Megadeth's best and I did prefer UA to TSHF. It was a great year so many new releases I bought a lot of cds.

Nah, but some nice votes there, I'm surprised that Zad didn't
pick Primordial anywhere, figured it'd be right up your ally.

.:crast:.

(and because I can't stop myself: new Canopy stuff in 2008, we'll be on the list! :P)

Yeah, I love 'em, but I haven't heard it yet, and much as I'd like to put albums that I haven't heard yet in my top fifteen...

Cheers Raven, keep reading and we'll keep writing! :dio:

Some great choices with the Power/True/Prog categories. Don't listen to enough of the other stuff to really make an opinion. I know I will probably try out alot of the albums on everyone's list.

I found it funny that Nightwish was under the Heavy/Power/True and Within Temptation was under Doom/Gothic/Dark metal. WT totally doesn't belong there.. anymore.

LOL! Good observation! That one took a while to grow on me but in the end deserved a place in my top 15.

Yeah, I figured a few genre goofs would slip through the cracks. I did the best I could, but constantly monitoring votes for mistakes is a taller task than you would think. Oh well, in the end it turned out pretty well I think.

Curiously, I had them at #8 as well.

 that's awesome. The album needs a "8th best album of 2007" sticker from now on.

Its alright, it just made me chuckle is all. You did a good job and I appreciate the work, didnt mean to make it sound negative or anything.

What, no Amorphis?

Bad enough it somehow evaded review until the new year (a good four months after release), but barely any sight of it on the best of lists (found it on two reviewers lists and none of the fan lists).

GWTD was a great album, in fact it was my AOTY until I heard Silent Waters, which I've had a hard time not listening to in the couple of months since I picked it up

No worries, I didn't mean to sound irritated. Your post was correct on both counts after all.

Yeah, I still haven't even heard it yet ( :omfg: ). I think it evaded review so long because Kayla was going to do it, but she has been hit hard by illness lately. I should receive my copy any day now. It's just getting harder and harder to listen to everything available before compiling the year end list. There were a few albums that would have made it onto my '06 top 15 had I heard them before I compiled my list (Aborym, Manticora). I'm sure the same thing will happen this time.

Allright, that's a good point. I know I had to amend my personal 07 list as I kept finding good new releases right up to the end of the year

Speaking of which, I jokingly wonder how long after the year's end one should be "allowed" to amend their list. I've found plenty of releases for, say, 2002 since then that would totally displace my list made at the time... not to mention placements on the list that are either apathetic or embarassing now

Interesting that Drudkh were only 7th in the BM catagory. Not heard Estrangement yet, Charles told me it's not as good as their previous stuff. They've had their fashionable time, haven't they, now it's WITTR and DsO's turn...
