Do you guys think that it would be smart to buy it day one or wait a month or two for the special edition that roadrunner always puts out?

I wondered that. Trouble is, this is one of the albums that I'm really looking forward to, and I want to hear it asap.

download it then buy the special edition. No guilt in that.

Hey cool, I would like to hear them move away from the sound of Ghost Reveries. Not necessarily back to their older style, but just in a different direction.

Especially since, with the special edition, you'll get a nice bonus: The fifty-millionth ever metal cover of AC/DC's Highway To Hell!!!

Ghost reveries was written before they signed with roadrunner, so roadrunner had no real say on the writing of it. With watershed I bet roadrunner had a lot of input. lets hope it isn't like most roadrunner albums and sucks.

Don't bet on it, Opeth would NEVER let RR interfere with their artistic vision. I have absolute faith in them having created another fantastic album. *Fanboy mode off*

Also I think that RR realize that Opeth kinda carved out their own fanbase and will keep being popular RR just lets them do their thing.

RR is owned by Universal, so it doesn't matter what RR used to do, but that said, they don't usually fuck with bands artistic output because it is almost always put in writing that they can't do it especially for a band that is established and goes to them after they have built a fanbase.

Exactly. It isn't like Opeth is, say, signing to Elektra Records and having Bob Rock produce their next album (points to a certain former Bay Area thrash band which will remain nameless).
