For the first time in years, I finally decided to catch WWE Monday Night Raw three days ago.

Barring the fact that I've completely lost track of the storyline (after all, the last time I seriously kept up with the organization was when Rikishi and Triple-H teamed up after revealing themselves to be the brains behind Steve Austin's injury), I must say that the toned down matches are reaaaaaaaaaaally disappointing. Now, you can see somebody winning a match with just a simple clothesline or drop kick. What ever happened to all the great finishing moves like the Pedigree and the Show Stopper? There's waaaaaaay too much talking now and not enough wrestling (though to be fair, the WWE was pretty talky back when I was still actively watching it). And would I be alone in saying that the WWE is now sorely lacking in charismatic stars?

I honestly wonder whether the WWE will ever regain the momentum or popularity it had back in 1998/1999/2000.

Nope. There's no WCW around to make Vince push the envelope. They've become complacent, stagnant, and boring. The WWF has always seen it's best times when the AWA's, NWA's, and WCW's of the world where breathing down thier necks. Without any competition, they have no reason to do anything outrageous, unexpected, or even anything exciting. The over-reliance on the same 5 guys to carry the Main Event scene isn't helping eithier. The die-hards keep tuning in, but anyone who could be considered a casual fan tuned out a long time ago. I prefer TNA Impact personally, but they are in no way shape or form competition to the WWE.

Yeah, it's become pretty damn ridiculous. For starters, watching John Cena wrestle is about as exciting as watching dog shit dry out on a sunny day, and he's supposed to be the main attraction? No thanks. They've also rendered the tag team titles, the Cruiserweight title, and the Intercontinental Title completely fucking meaningless. Plus, like you've alluded to, WWE has no balls anymore. Vinny and the boys are too worried about getting sued if a performer gets hurt. If they weren't soulless douches, they would bring back the hardcore matches and reduce the amount of segments between matches.

If you want to see more intense wrestling like you used to see in WWE, try TNA on Thursday nights. Their guys are allowed to try much more dangerous and real looking moves, which is probably why WWE guys are defecting constantly.

there's so much TALK right now it's becoming fucking unwatchable, but even the wrestling is shit. WWE insists in putting all these fat people there, who are no fun to watch and are too big and fat for other wrestlers to perform their moves on them. fuck that.

then the new "finishers" are so crappy it's not even funny. like you said, fucking clotheslines and shit taking people out. ridiculous.

I was an absolute huge fan during the 1998-2000 period. Like, seriously my parents probably thought I was gay. I knew everyone's stats and all their finishing moves and all their past title belts. Then one day I just stopped.

I find it quite funny that whenever I see a picture of The Undertaker (approx once a year) he's played by a different person...

He's been the same person for the last 15+ years. As for the person that asked about him. I haven't watched in about 6 months, but last I saw he was still being vastly underused and passed over for the likes of Batista. *shudders*

He was being set up for a huge last run with the World Heavyweight Title(SD Champion), coming off of last year's Wrestlemania, but shortly after winning it he tore a muscle in his shoulder and was sidelined for months. Last I heard, they plan on trying it again, but are going to have to go a different route to get him there. The weird part is, that belt is cursed. Batista won it and got hurt, Mysterio won it and got hurt, Edge won it and got hurt, Taker won it and got hurt. The only person immune to the curse is the Great Shitty.

I think Zad was referring to Kane, who has not always been the same person if I am correct...

Hey anyone remember when Brock Lesnar was submitted in a couple minutes by Frank Mir, a total can, in the UFC? :D

Frank Mir is anything but a can. He's a former champion, and was hungry for a win to put himself back on the map. Brock was given a legitimate opponent, and did do fairly well for his first fight. He damn near knocked Frank out. Brock has been doing MMA is Japan for a few years now.

Yeah you know... Outside of the fact that he gasses in the first round every fight, hasn't really faced any top talent in his past 4 fights, and really hasn't been the same SINCE he had the belt due to his motorcycle accident... He's pretty good.

Been watching MMA for 7 years. Frank Mir isn't what I ever considered top talent, and more recently he has become a can. Being TKO'd by PeDePano, barely outhustling a fat Dan Christiensen, and submitting a very easily submittable Antony Hardonik isn't amazing fighting. Back in the day Frank may have gased but at least he was up to compete. The accident ruined his career in my opinion.

If Lesnar wasn't overcome by his adrenaline dump and calmed and did some thoughtful fighting it would have been his bout. Giving Frank Mir a leg isn't exactly intelligent fighting.

Kane and the Undertaker have alays been the same wrestlers. Both have had impersonators over the years as a storyline however.

The Undertaker has always been Mark Calloway and Kane has always been Glen Jacobs.

The WWE product has sucked since the death of ECW. Chuck Palumbo and Ken Kennedy are probably the only two really talented guys left in that organization other than the old reliable Triple H. Randy Orton is great, but boring. Cena sucks, always has and always will.

Why are they acting like Viscera has not been around that long? He has been in the WWF/E since 1994 when he was known as Mabel.

The WWE's downfall is that they don't acknowledge any past events unless it is crutial to the storyline. They could have easily worked in an angle between Taker and V about how Viscera was abused and mistreated when he was in the Ministry of Darkness and now must get his revenge on the Taker.

Kane's backstory doesn't make a damn bit of sense anymore. "horribly scarred" "mute" and other shit doesn't seem to be true anymore.

While talking about Brock Lesnar, he is most probably going to have REAL fight in UFC with Mirko Filipović!

Mirko is going to kick Brock's ass! :dio: can't wait to see it!

Adveser yeah they keep recycling characters, Viscera was like "oh he's big but he's can be beat" and now he's Big Daddy V, who besides sporting the biggest pair of moobs i've ever seen (at least Viscera's pajamas covered that) is some sort of unstoppable monster. same thing for Gene Snitsky, he was even in some weird-ass gay angle joke with Tyson Tomko before becoming a monster on ECW.

my biggest complaint is the sheer amount of extremely large/fat people on WWE though. Viscera, Mark Henry, Khali, etc, they're all too fucking big to be fun to watch and too heavy for anyone to be able to pull off the cool moves on them.

every now and then there's a good fight, though. the ECW Originals vs New Breed rematch after Wrestlemania was awesome.
