i like the new song. I like that the keyboards are actually audible on this song. the songs i have heard from are you dead yet i could barely hear the keyboards.

I'm curious, when did it become cool to hate on Bodom? Everyone talked about how great this band was, then they someone got a few t-shirts on the shelves of Hot Topic and people started talking shit. It's so predictable.

People hate bodom?? wha? I thought everyone just thought AYDY was shit (including me). Don't think everyones suddenly forgotten how good the first 4 are.

It's more the timing. HCDR is a good album, but it certainly feaatured an increase in "gonna smash yo muthafuckin face muthafucka" moments and decrease in the neo-classical elements. Are You Dead Yet took all the aspects from HCDR that I saw as negative to even further extremes. Not only that, but this seems to, by incredible coincidence, have happened around the same time as Bodom found some acceptance among people who like bands like Bullet For My Valentine.

So while I agree they have only done the one altogether shitty album, their motives leave a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm one of the few who doesn't cream over HCDR- it has some good songs, but much of it shifts in a radically dumbed down direction (I'm looking at you, Sixpounder)- hell, even Needled 24/7, the best song, has dumb distorted vocals and weird techno shit. As Rad said, AYDY marks a complete shift in that direction- so why is it surprising that so many fans of the older stuff don't like it? Its not about Bodom hate, and its not about closed mindedness to change and all that nonsense- its about the fact that many fans dislike the new direction. I hope this one is better.

metal bands that play fast should not resort to slow mid -tempo songs because they're easier to write.

You're right. Some people said that they didn't like Hate Crew Death Roll as much. Then they said the single sucked. Then they said AYDY sucked. Oh no, a conspiracy against Children of Bodom! Its almost as if they changed their sound or something.

That is the truth, Bodom's high standards are their downfall. AYDY was a great album, bt for them, mediocre. it was 81/100 for me.

I found AYDY a pretty decent album. I liked it quite a bit. For me it was Bodom with a slightly different direction. It had that bad ass attitude in the songs.

I still can't get into the new song but I don't think it's all that bad. Bodom's first ballad, haha! I guess many people still aren't quite accustomed to the heavier Bodom (it all started with AYDY, though). I hope the rest of the album is decent.

This song is boring, it's not something I'd listen to more than once. Bah.

and how predictable that a new Bodom song would spark a flamewar over bodom suckage. As far as I'm concerned, they're good musicians who have to stop letting Laiho write the material. Turn CoB into a tool for Warman's material. Accept The Fact was awesome.

Very true. Laiho isn't bad, but at a guitar level there's a lot better than him out there. Also, for some strange reason, I can't stand that stupid little fuck. Didn't someone post some quotes? What a moron.

Actually, between this and the other song from that album that's been revealed, Tie My Rope (which was on the second Viva La Bands compilation) I'd say this is the better track. It's not as fast or aggressive, sure, but it's also not as contrived. Either way, my enthusiasm for new Bodom material is still tuned pretty low down.

The change came before HCDR. AYDY isn't THAT different from it, certainly not enough to warrant all the hatred...

honestly mate, if you think there are, 'a lot better' guitarists out there you need to listen to his solos again. The guy is one of the very fucking best. Doesn't matter what you think of him, his playing speaks for its self. The first time i saw them his playing was jaw dropping, they were so much better then both the live albums they're released. I've only seen one or two guitarist who are as good as him and they were my tutors at college (guthrie govan anyone???). Rly, hes fucking amazing!

I dunno about technical ability but he can writing fucking good riffs which puts him ahead of a lot of guitarists who can do fiddly neoclassical stuff but can't write music worth shit

You can't name anyone who was better when they were 16. And he has only gotten better. Roope is a veteran in the thrash scene and from the looks of the videos he had trouble playing some of the stuff on the new album
