That is the truth, Bodom's high standards are their downfall. AYDY was a great album, bt for them, mediocre. it was 81/100 for me.

I'm curious, when did it become cool to hate on Bodom? Everyone talked about how great this band was, then they someone got a few t-shirts on the shelves of Hot Topic and people started talking shit. It's so predictable.

I have to agree. Many fans were not thrilled about the material on "Are You Dead Yet?" That's when the decline started.

As for the track....I like it. It's cool to hear a band take a departure from lightning fast riffing and 250 bpm drumming. It's not necessarily a bad thing when a band slows it down a bit. I also really like how the guitar and keyboard follow each other. Schweeeeet! :dio:

I'm not sure when or if it ever became cool to hate Bodom. I can't speak for everyone of course, but the reason I didn't like the last album or the two songs I've heard from the new one is that they dropped out the constant guitar shredding and speedy tempos for generic mid-paced chigging riffs and macho man posturing. But that's just me.

I liked the songs I heard from AYDY. Bought it earlier, in fact. No, it's less good than previous Bodom, but it's still Bodomic enough to Bodomise me in that unique Bodomastic way.

I think Are You Dead Yet caused the hate then that kind of retrospectively carried over to Hate Crew Deathroll as well. Personally those two are my favourite Bodom albums :\

Yeah, now that I think about it, I don't understand all the Bodom hate...Hatebreeder and FTR are both awesome, and I've liked what I've heard from Hatecrew Deathroll. Are You Dead Yet? is their only dud as far as I can tell, and even that isn't exactly horrendous. And, this song is pretty sweet, albeit not as good as their older stuff.

Bleh. This song's pretty boring. I can't really compare to AYDY though, because I only heard a little bit once and it didn't convince me to listen any more.

Am I the only one who thought Follow the Reaper was not nearly as good as Hatebreeder? I prefer HCDR to FTR by a long shot.

[edit] So the MySpace player thing's still going and now it's playing Living Dead Beat. About 90% of the song sucks, but that one riff is actually pretty sweet. You know the one I mean. I know, kind of irrelevant, but everyone else was talking about their other newer stuff so I'm chiming in too.

People hate bodom?? wha? I thought everyone just thought AYDY was shit (including me). Don't think everyones suddenly forgotten how good the first 4 are. And if DT released that song i would think think that it sucked balls, why? because that song would sucks balls whoever wrote it. Reminded me of Angels Don't Kill, THE ONLY song i don't like from their first 4 albums.

Bodom = :dio:

I still like Bodom. They still have the ability to go "Beyond Abilities." Haha, get it? B/c Janne Warmen made an album called Beyond Abilities... I suck at life.

yeah an 81 is mediocre when the other albums are around 90. see my reviews at RYM for more info, it makes sense because I generally don't go out of my way to listen to songs that are 8/10. There's so much great stuff that it's not really necessary to listen to anything of that (admitedly great) quality. Heatseeker hit the nail of the head with his response. Bodom should be releasing an album of the year type album not something that gets lost in the shuffle with the other albums that have great but not amazing material.

and for everyone that said they are slowing it down didn't hear the last two albums because they both had a song on them that was at this pace and the rest was just as fast as usual bodom. I don't understand that assessment at all. If you thought this song was good the rest should be outstanding because this type of song from the last two was pretty much the weakest.
