I've heard Song 2 millions of times on NHL Hockey, and really like it. So I picked up the band's self-titled album just now. Any thoughts on them?

Blur's self-titled album is quite good. Certainly one of the more original pop/rock records I've heard.

They're a band I've known about for ages, but ignored before my metal days because I stupidly thought Oasis were better. Now I've gotten into Gorillaz, Blur's the next logical step. Waiting for Modern Life Is Rubbish to arrive...

...Oasis are better....much, much better.

Can't say i'm a blur fan. Don't like a single song they done except maybe song 2 which is ok. I don't mind the gorillaz to much, but i don't see my self putting on that cd any time soon.

The only Blur song I like is song 2. I love how its the 2nd song on the album, lasts for 2 minutes, and is completely pointless

I think Death of a Party is the best song on the self-titled.

I like Song 2 also, but I think its funny that they wrote that song as a tribute/parody, as noodles alluded to, and its still far and away their most well known song.

I second the Parklife notion, probably their best album in my opinion, though Modern Life is Rubbish and The Great Escape are very good also.

Song 2 is also one of Blur's very worst songs. The self-titled is a good album nonetheless, but more essential are modern life is rubbish, parklife and the great escape. They're the three you need :)
